I'd do a Myers-Henrique swap but I'm not interested in taking Henrique's contract for anything else

This is a very imaginative idea, but whatever your feelings about Henrique's on-ice value are, we'd be left with NO veteran center if Getzlaf retires, so I don't think that this is a realistic possibility for us. Nice vision, though.

He did. I just think a more defensively responsible RD to play with Rathbone

I get that, but Henrique is actually still a quality middle 6 forward. His decline isn’t that egregious. His overall contract value (according to the Athletic) is actually around 3.5m so the “bad money” is approximately 2m per season for his remainder which isn’t terrible.

He still scores at a 40-45 point clip and his contract isn’t buy out proof in the final year if things go sideways

I think a swap like this would help us this year and next for sure to be competitive. It wouldn’t affect Pettersson or Hughes extensions, even on a bridge and we’d still have roughly 26m in cap room next year, only needing to sign Boeser and Rathbone.

The contract is not good, but it’s not an albatross either.
