Quick analysis of some pending UFA's (ranked by points this past year):
Gabriel Landeskog-A+, biggest and best name out there. He's a class act off the ice and a terrific player, he's scored 20 goals (in a season) 8X and 50 points 7X out of 10 seasons (and one was the lockout shortened 2013), and he's only 28 years old. I'm surprised the Avs aren't making more of an effort to keep him, he's definitely worth 60 mil over 7 or 8 years in my mind.
Tyson Barrie-Was the D-man-leading (across the NHL) 48 points in a 56 game season just a product of playing with McDavid/Draisaitl? IMO, that definitely had something to do with it, and thus I'd be careful not to overpay for him, although he still is a solid (but not fantastic) offensive D-man in my mind.
David Krejci-He's said he'll take less to stay in Boston, and that's what's expected to happen.
Alex Ovechkin-He's staying with the Capitals.
Dougie Hamilton-One of the top 7 D-men in the league, he's definitely worth the 8/9 mil AAV he's asking for (if Seth Jones got more than that, it's surprising Hamilton's not asking for 10), the only question is will somebody other than the Canes offer him even more. There's reportedly mutual interest between him and the Devils.
Mike Hoffman-I'm guessing he either goes for another 1-year-deal or a small 2-year-deal with a contender, he dipped a little bit this year (36 points in 52 games). Not worth more than a 3 mil AAV at most.
Zach Hyman-Looks like another bonehead Oilers move, he's good, but not worth 5.5-8 mil a year, 4.5 at most.
Alec Martinez-33, but still producing (32 points for a defenseman in 53 games is pretty good), he could fit in a lot of places, but I wouldn't give him more than 4, maybe 4.5 for 2-3 years, he is 33, after all.
Blake Coleman-About as good of a depth forward you can have, can play anywhere on the line, and do everything well. I hope the Lightning somehow keep him, but if not, teams should be knocking at his door by the truckload.
Tomas Tatar-Coming off a down year (30 points in 50 games) but with several good years before that, but could be a bargain, as he'll likely be forced to settle for less, and definitely has the potential for a rebound campaign.
Alexander Wennberg-An underrated bottom 6 F (29 points, played all 56 games), and only 26, he could be a steal. Snap him up.
Paul Stastny-He's 35 (wow-I did not realize he's that old), and has been declining. He's a 3rd line F at this point, and should be signed as such.
Keith Yandle-I really like Yandle. He may be 34, but has been as dependent as they come, even after a down year, he should get a shot as a defensive defenseman (kind of like Ryan Suter or Marc Staal) somewhere.
Mikael Granlund-He hasn't been great in Nashville, and might fit in better elsewhere with more of a fit role (he's been playing behind Johansen and Duchene for a while). He could be a steal if not overpaid.
Ryan Suter-Like Yandle, Suter's got some grit left in him. He's drawing well-deserved interest from teams like the Islanders that need a really tough defensive blue-liner.
Other bargain watches (potential steals): Mike Reilly (he was excellent when he came over to Boston), Brock McGinn (this guy really could be a steal, he was a beast with increased minutes in the playoffs), Casey Cizikas (a really solid bottom 6 man, doesn't get a lot of points, but is a face-off wizard and defensive stalwart), Joel Armia (Like Cizikas without the face-offs, but a better offensive threat) Luke Gledening, Erik Haula, Brandon Saad, Kyle Palmieri
In his end of the season media Zoom call, David Krejci, who can become an unrestricted free agent on July 28, seemingly had no idea as to whether or not he would return to the Boston Bruins or hit the UFA market, or potentially retire from the NHL and move back to the Czech Republic to play.
Also recently Sweeney says they have been in touch but Krejci seems to be leaning towards going to play in Czech
