Think you're at least a million shy there. Barrie dropped from $5,5M to $3,75M to prove himself in EDM. Tatar was $5,3M in terms of cap, so if we consider the same kind of drop that would suggest a contract in the ballpark of $3,5M.

Not to mention Tatar's season wasn't really that bad. He was in 50 point pace during a normal regular season.

Maybe but from the look of thinks I think hes gonna sign a steal of a deal for a lower cap hit as if he wanted 3.5 got to think somebody by now would have signed him.

Just got to wait and see

Imo it's a smart move to take their time waiting for offers. Now that the secondary rate UFAs like both Tatar or Saad are top forwards in the market teams with a need for them might have to pay a premium for them should there be a bidding war.

Well they cannot go into next season with Micheal Bunting on the first line. That's a great way to miss the playoffs. Hopefully Tatar is the guy I agree.

Knee-jerk reaction: Vanecek deal is pretty good for both teams. Capitals get their tandem back, Seattle essentially gets a 2023 2nd rounder from the expansion draft (don't blame them for not picking somebody other than Vanecek, they couldn't be sure they'd get Grubauer)
