Got a fun idea for the toronto_maple_leafs.svgsan_jose_sharks.svg

Leafs want a top 6 add..

A lot of opinion on Labanc but one thing I can state is he is worth his cap analytically (His 5 on 5 stats rank him around 5m dollars for example) - and he had bad luck according to analytics the year before. He is a top 6 winger whos shown upside. His points may not be high but he was quite good this year overall (and you know he'll rack points up with the Leafs, as he plays PP and top 6 minutes).

Labanc
Gambrell (50% ret.)

for

Kerfoot
Amirov
Pick (I'd say 2022 2nd but I acknowledge that's a high price as I really like Amirov too, prob a 3rd or something with conditions maybe?)

Gambrell takes 3C, at 550k cap hit. Labanc basically eats a tad more of the Kerfoot cap move but it still allows cap flexibility for the Leafs while both getting a top 6 winger and still having a 3C. I think Labanc fits perfectly with Tavares and Nylander (but would do well with the AM, MM).

If tatar goes to another team could happen. I think Dubas wantd to use FA before trade but things could change

Although the Isles MVP, Barry Trotz, does have a cup.

NJD, Ottawa, Leafs, Avs, LA

Definitely the “brightest” teams in the league imo, by large margins.

Close by I would consider DET (obvious), MTL (not quantity but quality), CBJ (a lot of work and progress needed tho)

What about the sabres never gets them in these lists? I think they have one of the brightest but they are never mentioned.

They have Cozens, Dahlin & Power. I wonder what they're going to do with two #1 overall LDs

I hated the Quinn pick, I think Powers is great but not amazing (like I’d prefer Clarke (but selecting Clarke 1st OA is just way to risky)), cozens is great but I really was disappointed by his WJ finals performance.

Cozens is great again as I said but he seems very cocky almost (just my opinion not fact). And his effort level seems to be with that egotistical type and he really underperformed in the high pressure situation of the finals and racked up a ton of points prior to a difficult finals; where he was a GHOST IN THE FINALS. Guys like Newhook and Mercer still performed despite no points in the final but Cozens played with a cocky attitude and did not learn from shift to shift; and ended with a lacklustre performance.

JJP is solid. UPL is good too, Other than that I don’t see much.

Imo if they didn’t pick Quinn and if I had a higher opinion of Cozens then I’d rate them higher.

Yes players can struggle but Cozens showed a lack of compete, competency. He did not learn at any points during the game and didn’t do anything to change that. Guys like Mercer worked despite struggling and adapted. Cozen did the polar opposite.

And no I’m not tryna suck off mercer and hype up @devil1122 lol. He’s just a great example for comparing to Cozens.

Imo that's an overpayment by the Leafs. Nothing short of the 18-19 campaign jusfifies Labanc bringing back a return of what is effectively a 1st+2nd+3rd in terms of value, and the guy has regressed statistically from that. Dubas would only pay for what he was achieved in SJ, not for what he might do in the future with Matthews and Marner. Gambrell isn't much more than an add on to the trade, he doesn't bring much value for the Leafs who already have three players that could play the same role with similar results (Spezza, Kämpf, even Brooks and Engvall to an extent).

Last two years Labanc has been a 40 point winger earning almost $5M a year. I personally do not see real high value in that. From the correct market I could see him garnering a first, but nothing more.
