They basically are all in this year before the buyout dead cap becomes 12mill followed by 14mill the following 2 seasons. Maybe thats why Kaprisov turned down a long term deal. He wants to see how this affects the team lul.

I just cant picture that like 14mill in dead cap. Thats enough to sign so many assets. Well if Minnesota does not go far this season got to think Guerin gets fired. Cause 40 mill in dead space for 3 years total OUCH. Should have kept Suter and just bought out Parise.

Everybody acts like Minnesota wasn’t already planning on wasting $15M on Suter and Parise. I hate the move but that dead cap money isn’t as impactful as it’s being made out to be. Suter and Parise would basically be paperweights by the second last year of the deal anyway, what difference does it make if they are on the roster by then or not? Not suggesting I like the buyout but this thread is acting like the Wild have just as good a chance as the Sacramento Kings do at winning the Cup

I agree with Parise but Suter was still pulling his weight. Would have kept him and bought him out the following season if regression was shown.

I like the buyouts. It's a ballsy move. The only question you really have to ask yourself if your Guerin is if you think you can win with Parise and Suter making that much money. If the answer is yes, then you don't buy them out, if the answer is no, then why waste the next four years. You give yourself an incredible opportunity this year, and the next few, you're really not that much worse off than you were before.
