Eichel finds a lining spot in LA

Of all the teams that were initially interested in Eichel, LA really remains as the only one that can really afford him now, aren't they?

As far as I can tell, Calgary and Vegas are out on cap alone. Minnesota and Montreal could kick tires I guess but last I heard they balked at the price.

Calgary could still be in if Monahan goes the other way, we have about 6mil room and only NEED to sign a backup (remaining would be used on a forward, trading for Eiche would hurt our depth but we’d survive with some kids or cheap deals because it’s Eichel)

So, is Hamilton to NJD pretty much confirmed or just a rumour?

Calgary would need a third team involved. There's no justification for monahan waiving to go to Buffalo.

Plenty of teams need a top 6 centre, I don’t anticipate moving Monahan somewhere else being too much of a problem if he refuses to waive for Buffalo.

Not gonna bother keeping up with this thread, I’ll do a 32 team review tonight or tomorrow on moves made post NHL Draft/ end of exclusive UFA negotiations either trades, extension or FA signings

For money sure - but for his career; poor decision

Off the top of my head the teams that need a top-six center are either trying to acquire Eichel or wouldn't be teams that one would expect Monahan to waive for.

Not trying to be argumentative or confrontational, it just seems odd that a team like the Rangers or Wild would help the Flames acquire the guy they want more. Not saying it's impossible, and probably not the worst idea the Rangers could pull off (a Mika-Mony one-two punch is not a bad center core), the optics on it just seem silly.

I like the Leivo deal for a solid 4th liner, but did we really just pay Cole 3 mil for 1 year?

True. We're getting shafted a bit, but some other teams are getting smoked.

FYI Leivo was atrocious this year, sorry. He had exactly one good game all year, and countless opportunities in the top 6. Wouldn’t expect too much. Just gotta hope he bounces back on a new team and maybe provides 10 goals on the 4th line.
