Detroit will be happy to make that deal.

Dunn is a good fit for us and the chance of the Washington pick getting anything better is slim.

Nothing, because he is injured all the time. If he got injured, we would have a hole there for the whole time he is out. If he wasn’t injury prone, he would be an excellent winger for McDavid.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but this smells like a "reports of his demise were greatly exaggerated" situation now that he can go have a normal preseason for the first time since the Cup year.

Im all in for keeping him this year, give him a full fresh season. If it doesn't work, we can flip him at the deadline

I don't think Detroit is interested. Stevie seems pretty determined to hoard draft picks and fill in the gaps with vets on cheap deals. I also don't think anyone's paying a first for a guy who rode the pine multiple times this year. His value has never been lower

This is based on the conversation with Rutherford with regards to Blues gauging all interests on Tarasenko including trade. If healthy he's good, but can he stay healthy is a major question mark.

Rode the pine one time. That was it. That's like saying Konecny's value has never been lower and is low because he rode the pine once or twice. Still had 20 points in 43 games and was dominant down the stretch when he played.

I like Dunn, but I don't think Detroit gives up a 1st before the expansion draft. Everyone knows the situation St. Louis is in in regards to expansion draft protections and they will have to be ok with selling Dunn low, rather than losing him for nothing. The price Detroit should go on Dunn prior to the expansion draft is a 2nd round pick and not an ounce more, as the net cost will end up being a 2nd AND more due to us having to leave Lindstrom and Cholowski unprotected, thus causing us to lose one of them, or pay Seattle to take someone else.

If St. Louis gambles on not losing him, or already has a deal with Seattle to take someone else and can get through the expansion draft, the value goes up quite a bit and it's not unreasonable to say Washington's 1st AND an additional B- level asset would be on the table for Dunn.

I think you're wrong there.

Dunn is a very good fit in Detroit. He immediately solidifies the position and is capable of putting up very good numbers.

Detroit have room to give him plenty of icetime in the top-4 and can partner him with a suitable player.

It's hard to find a better fit for Detroit than Dunn would be.

Wings would probably have interest in him but not for a 1st. If they can get him at a lower cost sure. Blues have already tried to move Dunn asking for a 1st and there were no takers

Dunn puts up numbers better than Hronek, so he's worth a first.

If Detroit can get him even cheaper, that'd make it a steal.

Hronek gets 1D defensive duties which impact his offensive output while Dunn gets easier matchups and plays on a better team. And I probably wouldn't pay a 1st for Hronek either. St. Louis is also looking to move Dunn while Detroit seemingly has no intent on moving Hronek

This is false, they didn't actually try to move Dunn, those were rumors. That was the asking price but he was never on the block.

Why would you have an asking price for a guy who isn't on the block? That doesn't make much sense. I'd bet if someone had offered their 1st the Blues would have made the trade

Just because they make the trade doesn't mean he was on the block. But again, even the asking price was just a rumor. There wasn't any truth to it.

The wings are not paying more than Colorado payed to get a BETTER defenseman in Toews. Maybe you get a 2nd and a 3rd for him but not any more than that...at least from us.

Dunn was benched multiple times throughout the year. My wife is from STL, we watch a LOT of Blues hockey

He was benched one full game. I watch every Blues game. He missed several others for injury reasons. Again, benched one game doesn't mean your value goes down automatically. If it did, then Dunn for Konecny would be a fair trade based on this logic.
