Stuck in Mediocrity with CF

Created by: DirtyDangles
Team: 2021-22 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 7, 2021
Published: Jun. 7, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is what I believe to be the likeliest outcome.

We miss on Hamilton and Larsson because they re-sign with their current teams. We miss on Seth Jones because CF doesn't want to part with the necessary pieces. We trade Patrick for scraps. We overpay for a RHD because there is nothing left. We miss on all good back-up goalies because Philly is a goalie graveyard.

I don't have a ton of faith in Fletcher myself but he isn't so stupid he'd pull something like that Anaheim trade or the Arizona trade

I don't know that these specific trades will happen but I do agree we need to land a big fish on D and I don't see it happening.

I think the Ducks could work with that. Could draft Lambos or Cuelemans with the pick.

You are talking about the guy who traded Nino for Rask...

Even though that wasn't a bad trade by most accounts, that wasn't even Fletcher lmao

My bad Fletcher got fired before that. But he's the guy who traded Tuch and a 3rd so that VGK would take Haula. CF is the epitome of mediocrity. And that Nino trade was atrocious!

TBF IIRC he made that trade to protect all of Brodin, Spurgeon, Dumba, and Suter. I'm not saying it was the best way he could have handled that, but at least in this case the logic used made sense, he just clearly misevaluated Tuch.

As for the Nino trade, both Nino and Rask struggled heavily the 2 seasons before that move happened, and in the exchange Minnesota was saving cap and addressing their Center core, something they desperately needed help in. Nino has been the better player since the trade but has still gone through periods in Carolina where he has struggled. Idk, I'm of the mind that it isn't the GM's fault if the player they acquire doesn't live up to his past performances. That trade 100% looked fair at the time

I laughed at that trade at the time. At least Nino was serviceable before that trade, Rask was atrocious. And then Rask was basically a 13th F the following year. There is struggling and then there is, a guy who can barely play. The guy played with Kaprizov this year for nearly 60% of 5v5 time and could only manage .43 p/gp.
