I’m not sure how much playing well now boosts his value. Most teams that could afford to take him aren’t worried about his play now, they’re worried about what he’ll look like in 5 years

I don’t see him having any value despite his play. His contract is simply way too long

His style of play is sustainable and his contract doesn't end at like 38-39-40 year old like some others so I really don't believe it's an issue at all

Then you clearly haven't seen what other GMs do.

EDM and CGY were able to trade Lucic's and Neal's deals, respectively, and those are deals that are way worse than McDonagh's

I don’t doubt that he can be traded im just saying we likely can’t acquire assets for him because of his contract. It’s not that he had an un-tradeable contract

Well yeah exactly I'm not saying TB would get the return the NYR got a few years ago but people who claim he has 0 value or even negative value don't know anything about hockey in that regard

So what do you suggest a team would give up for him?

Depends on which team. If he waives, I could see WIN giving up Stanley, 2nd rounder and prospect (I'm not overly familiar with WIN's prospect pool but you get the point, or at least I hope so)

WSH also needs D help, so they could give up a smilar haul to WIN, although I don't think they should, their window has closed.

PHI also needs D help, and since I'm pretty sure Sanheim can play the right, I could see them giving up a 2nd, Hagg and a B prospect for McDonagh

Man I hope he can generate that kind of return.

I still truly believe Stevie y takes him for pennies because he can.... and it will completely change the Detroit D-core right away. Mcdonagh with Seider sounds pretty good.

Does everyone agree that the bonuses i put in for Seattle is enough to get Seattle to take him?

Have you seen him skate. Its awful. if he doesn't retire then he'll be taxi squad or worse. I just don't think he has much left in the tank. also three in a row champ could sound really good to go out on smile
