Demko: 6.8 GSAx, .915 SV%, 2.85 GAA, 1.13 WAR
Shesterkin: 3.0 GSAx, .916 SV%, 2.62 GAA, 0.50 WAR

Thatcher Demko also had the worse defence in front of him

In a vacuum yeah probably, I dont see Lucic waiving though and we do actually value him as a team leader and enforcer despite his cap hit. I would definitely do this if we can flip Strome and the 1st for someone who can actually improve our team like Eichel though (of course there would be more added in though)

but why? We are not close to winning and a young(ish) center with a first round pick? Would probably hold onto that

The team clearly underperformed this year. They should definitely make the playoffs next year

I would agree but whats the goal? make playoffs or win? From the watching the playoffs this year, I cant see them making noise anytime soon (and trust me I would kill for that to happen).

Are you suggesting a rebuild? They definitely arent rebuilding. Upgrading Monahan to Eichel should definitely make the team at least close to a contender

I would say re-tooling. Strome and Monny are a wash (age wise) and getting a first for Lucic is a steal. Good bit of business.
All I would say is that trying to get Eichel may be cost prohibitive

Montreal is the poster child for what can happen if you just make the playoffs!

Im not disagreeing with the value, Flames take that. However the team is not better after the trade but does have more cap space and tools to work with. Regardless of if we did this trade Calgary should definitely be in on Eichel this summer

Igor paid his dues in khl and like fellow comrades, will demand top dollar. He will be 26 next season. Even if it's only a bridge deal it'll be 2x 5.5m, or 8x 8m or hopefully less risky 6x 6.8m.

Which “comrade” RFAs are you referring to? An 8x8 is Kirill Kaprizov money, not Igor Shesterkin money.

He's been maxing out the whole time, khl, elc, as a reasonably so hyped up Euro/Russian. He will get paid, but it won't be long term, hometown discount that would take him till 33.

I dont really like the idea of monahan but as far as the cap goes NYR have to trade lindgren or buch or both at some point assuming the kids perform
