Better than these garbage offers

This is what a hypothetical Eichel trade would look like. Sabres get a young player that can break out in Buffalo, good defensive prospect, fringe starting goalie, and short term replacement for Eichel. The Sabres don't need a center back in an Eichel trade with a TON of good centers in the upcoming draft. This trade doesn't hurt the Rangers too much and makes them a competitive team

What do you mean by "if you theoretically did"?

Like if we didn't have Jack Hughes?

If you needed Jack Eichel to make a deep playoff run.

But if you theoretically did, take that deal and ride it into the sunset.

And the Devils are giving up more than the Rangers

Holtz=Kaako
Shkmdln (Mukamudullin???) = Schneider
Zacha=Strome
Kuokknn>Georgiev
NJD 1st>NYR 1st

I would still pass. At this point, Devils are still rebuilding and with Wright, Bedard, Lambert, Savoie, etc in the upcoming drafts, Devils could tank for one of them.

But if we were on the verge of contending (like the Rangers), I would do it

How about Buffalo can keep Jack, his $10m/ year cap hit and bulging neck disk? Then this is all a moot point. Jack can stay in Buffalo and miss the playoffs for the rest of his contract or the Saber's can try to off-load his injured neck to some other team that is willing to be fleeced for damaged goods. How does that sound?

Exactly that’s why the value is so hard to gauge. It could either be teams are comfortable with the injury and the bidding war happens. Or the price dips bc of injury and contract. Time will tell, but I think the whole “the team that gets him will deal with him injury” likely won’t help the value.

If the “price dips” then the Sabres won’t trade him

Redonkolous trade. its U dont understand trade value in a salary cap world. rangers would not trade kappo and schneider straight up for eichel and his neck and his 10MM salary hit.
Theyll keep the 10mm and sign a landeskog and a coleman and let the players continue to develop. yeah if ur talkin money back --- a trouba or kreider (Both would have to waive NMC) or stroemer a pick and a prospect MAYBE then youd have a fair deal. cherry pickin the rangers cost controlled top prospects is a pipe dream that aint happening...

Rumors are that a number of teams have already contacted the Sabres about Eichel. I'm 99% sure a team would be willing to give what the Sabres want for Eichel

Sabres aren’t gonna “sell low” on a superstar
Thinking that is as moronic as they’d be for doing so

Maybe yes maybe no, his other contract (even if worth it) during cap strapped seasons and his injury is not likely helping it

Selling low is very different than a middle of the rack offer. But an offer that’s crazy high likely won’t happen after what’s occurred (or I should say from the rangers at least)

So thinking a guy with a bulging neck disk that wants a surgery no hockey player has had, who also has a $10m/year cap hit for 5 more years, is someone NOT to trade for is being salty? LOL. Ok, if you say so.
