    Danault turned down 6 years 30 mill in the off season. He then followed that up by putting up career lows in ppg and gpg. He has put the Jets and Leafs top lines in his back pocket but unless he turns up the scoring in the playoffs, he ain't getting nowhere close to 5 mill aav. Not in a flat cap.

    And that is exactly why the short sighted Leafs only have 13 cups and are in a 54 year drought. They believe that the game begins and ends with scoring and nothing else.

    I'll take Danault on my team any day but no smart team is paying 5mil+ with term to a guy coming off a season where he was on pace for 8 goals over 82 games. Especially considering the cap might stay flat for a few more years.
