New GM in NY. stranger things have happened. They have lots of young forwards on the roster and coming. And just had 2 of their best players manhandled by Wilson with no answer. I could.see interest in Kassian or a Kassian type. Chytil is expendable in NY.

lol, no one wants Koskinen. The trade is basically Samorukov to pay for 1 year Koskinen at $2.5M and a 1st for Rakell. Samorukov is a B defensive prospect that spent the year playing well in the KHL, with similar stats and role as Montreal's Romanov did the year before, and after having a very successful CHL career. He is about 1 year away from being NHL ready.

DeBrusk is a good young player with ties to Edmonton. I wouldn't trade him if I were Boston but if they sign Hall, DeBrusk is the 3LW and for some strange reason Cassidy uses him as a whipping boy. If he doesn't want him he would look great in Edmonton

He’s really not worth much, riding the reputation of a breakout season, hasn’t done much of anything since

I think DeBrusk is a perfect rebound player. Young and skilled and has scored 30 before. Not a great situation with his current coach. I like Bear but my roster has Barrie signed and the team doesn't "need" another smaller defenceman. And you need to give to get. I'm an Oiler fan and I don't think Bear +3rd is an over pay. if it is not by much. 3rd to a 4th or 5th maybe.

Problem is the Ducks have a lot of LHD in the pipeline and could be leaning to drafting another this draft for some reason.

I just think the idea of signing someone who makes McDavid less effective (lowering his GF% & xGF%) in Barrie is bad. Trading Bear is worse.
Powerplay performed more effectively with Nurse
Doesn’t add up to me

Far enough. you know more about your team than I do. Maybe I'd need to look elsewhere. I just saw Anaheim as a team that could use a backup goalie( Koskinen put up good numbers once he wasn't the starter, dispite the 1st shot goals) theu are rebuilding so another decent prospect never hurts and although they just picked up Fleury he isn't established yet so it's tough to count on him longterm yet and he can play the right side as well. I thought could be a fit there.

lead defenceman in points. so not a bad player. and all the categories you are talking about Barrie had slightly lower numbers. It's not like he was a drag. I would sign Barrie to make Bear expendable in a trade and it was honestly a really hard choice. I don't think the Oilers will be able solve all their scoring winger needs in free agency and a trade or 2 will be needed.

As far as the sign or don't sign Barrie debate that is/will continie right up until he signs somewhere else I think.

Barrie dragged McDavids numbers.. look at McDavids Goals Against with Barrie, it’s insane they played together as much as they did. Leading the league in points really doesn’t mean much when half are secondary assists on McDavid having one of the most dominant seasons in recent history.

I don’t think you get the appropriate amount of value back than Bear provides in a trade.

All rumours pointing to Barrie wanting term, which would Bouchard redundant so hopefully it’s not a debate for long.

He is our future 2C. We can get Deslauriers for far less. In fact most EDM fans have valued that bad Kassian contract as negative value to a 4th rounder so we probably won’t pay this price. New GM, yes, stupid, no. He may even trade Chytil but it wouldn’t be for Kassian straight up. Also he isn’t lost in our depth, his development is doing great and he didn’t do well when moved up the line up last season. Par for the course is what he needs to develop

What's the problem with JDB at 3LW? Seems like a win for Boston to have a guy capable of 20+ goals on their 3rd line.

Yea... hes expendable in a trade for a top center... nothing else. You oilers fans are crazy if you think we will trade for kassian at full contract, he’s got 3 more years at a high cap hit and does virtually nothing except be an informer, he’s essentially a cap dump at this point and you’ll likely need to buy him out.

Just to keep this real simple. Everyone says no. That arizona one might go through but the first chytil deal doesn’t so lets just leave it at everyone says no.

Fair value but Boston does not need a RD. Swap Bear with Lavoie and i think Boston is a lot more receptive.

Just off the top of my head, Pittsburgh once traded a 1st for Ryan Reaves because they needed his player type. there were other pieces that basically canceled each other out.

I'm pleasantly surprised how much debate/reaction this lineup has received. It's only my 2nd run at this and the 1st team was significantly less fun with majority of changes coming through UFA signings. What's the fun in that.
I do believe most of the trades are within range and at the very least get a counter offer. It takes 2 teams to trade but these aren't offers getting hung up on by the opposing GM, except maybe the Kassian deal. That's more wishful thinking and hoping to take advantage of a rookie GM that just watched his team get pushed around with now answer. I think therre is a case of some people over estimating the value of their own players. Perfect example is the Boston trade. Oiler fan says Bear is undervalued in deal, Boston thinks DeBrusk is. Makes for a good debate though.
