Oilers would take that but I think they would want a little salary retained

Unless we desperately need a 3LW, I don’t see it. From what I’ve been told is he sucks at face offs and we need a guy that is good at face offs, because in my opinion we are terrible at it.

Wouldn’t give all that up for one year of Jones. MAYBE with and extension, maybe. But even then that’s a lot to give up for a player who’s best year was like 3 years ago.

Would need more than just a second for two years of Byron at 3.4m

Paul Byron is a good hockey player, only reason the habs have to move him is because of their cap. One of the best PK in the league and Ottawa Native

Ottawa picked up 3.4m from Tampa last year in Paquette and Coburn and got paid a 2nd, Byron has 2 years left at 3.4 per. Two 2nds would make more sense.

Paquette and Coburn played well enough to get traded before the deadline. Byron is a decent player but was also scratched this season as well.

The fact that he's an Ottawa native really doesn't mean much. When you add that to the fact that Ottawa's bottom 6 is already full, I would think Byron would have a hard time pushing out the younger players who would be ahead of him already. Even on the pk, Ottawa had one of the best pk1 combos at forward with Brown and Paul. Best case scenario he'd be on the pk2 with Formenton.

My point is that there's no reason for Ottawa to take on twice that salary that they did with Tampa without getting paid double.
