2021 OFFSEASON TO DO LIST

Created by: njlaforte
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 8, 2021
Published: Jun. 8, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
In the offseason, the Jets are going to have to not only change up the roster but also do a little rebranding.
This is their list of things to do!
-First, make the heritage classic jerseys your home(Navy) and away(White)
-Remove the captaincy from Wheeler
-Have three A's (Wheeler, Scheifele, Morrissey)
-Fire Paul Maurice and Charlie Huddy
-Bring in Gerard Gallant or maybe Rod Brind'Amour if available
-If they don't bring in a new coach then bring up someone internally (Pascal Vincent, Dave Lowry, Jamie Kompon, or Eric Dubois)
-Keep Chevy. Chevy is not the problem.
-Seattle takes Appleton (Unfortunate, although we have other players that can fill that role)
-Resign the 3 big RFA's
-Bring back Paul Stastny if he wants to return
-Sign and resign some depth players (Lewis, Perreault, Poolman, Dahlstrom)
-Trade Niku to Ottawa
-Play Perfetti, Vesalainen, Gustafsson, Heinola, Samberg, and Berdin
-Draft the Winnipegger Carson Lambos and play him in Junior
-Go to training camp
-Win the Central Division
-Make the Cup Finals
-Then win the Stanley Cup

With that protection list, Seattle might pick DeMelo

That is exactly what I was thinking. Heinola and Samberg are NHL ready and if you hold them out of the lineup then they wont develop.

If they pick DeMelo then play Copp Lowry Appleton 3rd line, Vesalainen on the 4th line with Gus and Stastny. If DeMelo is picked then you could sign Hamilton, trade for Jones, play poolman, or sign a 3rd pair right shot dman

Soo Many flaws with this, first off if Stastny returns, I highly doubt he signs for 1 year at $2.5 look to the Olli Jokinen deal years back where they signed him 2 years at $4-$4.5M per year.. If Maurice was relieved(Jets fans have no clue how good they have it with him being here) you're dreaming if you think Gallant comes to Winnipeg over Seattle or New York, Winnipeg is not a desired location... Also, that's a severe overpayment for a 3rd line guy in Copp, why would you give him that much more than Lowry when they do the same thing(he's clearly not a top 6 F) max out at $3.5.. And Perfetti is likley not ready for next season, bet he joins the year after.. And why you'd wanna bring back Depth D as opposed to going after legit Top 4 d is beyond me, I'd rather use that money and a bit of Little's LTIR money to bring in Montour rather than Poolman... Also, 0 chance Niku is worth a 3rd round pick, they'd be lucky to get a 5th for him at this point....

Can Winnipeg afford to lose a defensemen? Absolutely not

I think Ottawa would accept that trade, Niku fits the timeline of the team well
