Chevys got some tough choices

Created by: jgimp69
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 8, 2021
Published: Jun. 8, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
First and foremost, fire Maurice. He’s failed at taking this team anywhere and morale looks like it’s at an all time low.
Assuming Dumba gets picked by the Kraken, wonder if a Samberg/Vesa deal gets him? 2 young NHL ready players that will fit their timeline.

I highly doubt we are able to sign Hamilton and the chances of prying guys like Parayko, Pulock, Cernak, Serg or the like are slim to none without HUGE overpays, so Dumba may be the best option to balance out the DCore
Copp and 18OA go to Buffalo for Sam. He instantly leapfrogs Wheels and plays T6 while Wheels can play a more suited role in the middle 6 to help balance the lines.
Armia comes back as he should never have been moved in the first place

Probably close to a deal on Reinhart. Surprised Jets would move Copp though

Waste of assets for a player the Jets don't need in that Buffalo deal. I also think the Jets are better off keeping Samberg rather than moving him for another small defenseman that isn't good defensively.

After his last arb and his Agents history of walking his clients to UFA the writing is on the wall I fear.

So 1 yr of Copp and 18OA in a crappy draft year is too much for a T6 winger/Wheeler replacement???

In regards to the Dumba idea? What are our options then? We aren’t getting the players I stated and while I would like to keep Samberg and Heinola, I think incorporating them into the lineup next year would still make us a meandering middle of the pack team which may or may not have a lotto pick? We really are to some degree up against a wall here as we are eating premium years.

It's not that it is too much, it is that the Jets don't need him. Those assets are better spent going after defenseman we need as opposed to redundant forwards.

Minesota will go 4-4-1 so Dumba won't be available.

IMO Winnipeg protect Stanley and Demelo get picked by Seattle.

Yes, I agree that there aren't many options right now for defence. However, Jones will likely be moving this summer and the team that acquires him is likely going to have to make moves to clear the cap space to extend him. So, who knows who will become available. Dumba would be alright, but I'd rather see what shakes out this summer and then deciding who we look at.

I'm all for changes being made, but I'm just saying we don't want to rush in early, make changes that don't really need to be made and give away assets that we may need later.

Did you watch the last series? We need all the help we can get in all facets of the roster with exception of goaltending. Wheeler was flat and is tired, he’s declining hard, Connor was non existent and Ehlers, while buzzing, still made minimal impact. Sam would at least bolster our T6 and if in fact Copp does want out, at least we get a solid piece back.
I don’t think Copp/1st moves the needle for the kind of defender we need unless we are giving up one of Heinola or Perfetti

I’m all for holding tight and seeing what we have so long as Paul Maurice and Huddy are kicking stones in the parking lot and then going from there.

Reinhart isn't the answer that's for sure. He's never really produced without Eichel and is a winger which is the absolute last thing the Jets need and is the easiest position to fill. I understand the knee jerk reactions after this series, I'm just not in favour of acting on them.

You know that's not going to happen right? Huddy maybe, but PoMo was just extended, he's not going anywhere. The Montreal series is more on the players than the coaching. PoMo was smart enough to shut down McDrai completely and suddenly a week later he can't solve Montreal? That's the players.

Reinhart as a 3C behind Schiefele and Dubois would be excellent. Also, to your point, he has produced without Eichel; and did so at center this year. I think the main point was that wingers are a low priority for the Jets and I agree with that. Especially top 6 wingers
