I know Dubois had a down season but I feel like this is a little too low in terms of a return

I like trying to buy low on PLD, but its gotta be more than that.

If 10OA isnt included in a PLD trade I would be surprised

According to The Athletic, Daccord is the 20th best prospect and Grieg is the 13th best prospect in the Senators system.

Jets decline.

So you traded PLD for nothing and signed Alec Martinez at $6.5M? This is not good for Winnipeg at Ll

There is a lot here to not like.

Trading Dubois for spare parts? Nope. At least give us one of your prospect RD to address an area of need for us.

$6.5M for A. Mart. Just so we can block a better player in Heinola from getting into the lineup. We manipulated his service time hard this year but he is a lock for a spot next year. No Vet LHD needed.

Bringing Lewis and Toninato back instead of Perreault.

Pushing one of the best shut down centers (and the only player that throws any hits) down to the 4th line.

OP is a Sens fan. Probably should have built a Sens team instead of a Jets team.

Agree with this. I'm one of the many who is not too big on PLD, right now---especially when one considers the players moved to acquire him---but I'm also of two minds on how to move forward with this player. I think the Jets want to see him for a full "normal" season before making any decisions on his long-term future as a jet, and I feel that's the way to go. But I also know that this team needs to do more than it's doing to become a winner . . . from management to coaching to the personnel on the ice. It's a team that's built to win now (with some prominent holes, yes) and the players that the Jets go forward with have to be those whom the organization is confident can achieve that objective.

A lot of people here would suggest bringing Stastny back, and it's been bandied this move is necessary "in case Dubois doesn't work out." My issue with that thinking is that if you're preparing for failure, it's likely going to materialize. Especially if the same coaching staff returns who "likes to play his guys." If this organization thinks Dubois will perform better next season and even meet (dare we say, exceed) expectations, than play Dubois as such. Make him the undisputed number 2 center and play him with consistent wingers. But don't use valuable cap space on an insurance policy. If the organization really lacks that much confidence (and I'm the last guy to blame them if they do), then trade him sometime before the start of the season & acquire the best assets available to make this team better NOW. Not later, and not AFTER he's had another "down" year and his trade value is diminished even further.

Lastly, I've been resistant to say it unlike many other Jets fans, cuz I like Maurice, but this team needs a new man at the helm. The structure/system needs an overhaul, one where this team is not near the top of the league in high percentage scoring chances allowed every game . . . to start. With the number of really good coaching options available, Winnipeg would be remiss not to see if a new coach makes some significant difference.

Sorry for the rant! Loss is still so fresh!!

Let's at least give PLD a chance at a normal season/training camp before we dump him elsewhere. He is 22 and has been through a lot in a year. They fricking gave up Laine for him, they can't sell him for a bunch of pieces now.
People are so quick to judge players, it's insane.

To be fair, both of those prospects would rank easily within the top 10 bow and Greig is top 5. Greig had the fifth best points per game in the WHL and was one of Belleville’s best players when he was in the AHL. D’Accord has played so well since he turned pro that there was talk about him being the goalie to protect in the expansion draft before he got hurt.

Also keep in mind that in that article Wheeler didn’t even have Filip Gustavsson ranked at all and all signs point to him being the goalie protected in the expansion draft. Wasn’t even listed as an honourable mention…

All that to say, there’s nothing wrong with the prospects being sent over but the picks are lacking. Especially when compared to the ceiling that Dubois has. The jets should decline, I said that myself earlier but I’m not here for the Sens prospect slander!! Lol

Jets shouldn't want futures. They should be looking for something to address immediate defensive needs. A futures heavy return is more appropriate for San Jose, Buffalo, Anaheim.
