Additional Details:
I'm not sure I even want Eichel, but both fan bases dont understand value. Buffalo isn't getting Laf + Kakko + 3 1st round picks or something absurd like that. just like the Rangers arent getting him for Chytil, Strome and a 1st round pick or something ridiculous like that.

Kings would have to put Byfield on the table.

I always stated that
Kakko
Chytil
Schneider or Nils
1st

Is around fair value. But maybe Rangers would be able to get away with it with Strome instead of Chytil but it would be up for debate.

When it comes to the Rangers ownership, Dolan might be just dumb enough to take a call from the Sabres. Eichel is damaged good. He might be worth taking a chance on if you're Anaheim or San Jose, but for teams like the NYR or Senators, don't mess up what you're already building. Eichel won't help if you end up giving away the young studs you just suffered to earn in the draft. Eichel has played 6 years and done nothing for the Sabres. Why would you expect he'll suddenly become an entirely different player. As every ex girlfriend will tell you, when a guy shows you what he is, believe him. He won't change.

It's only reasonable if you think Eichel can deliver something the others cannot. I have not seen that in him. Indeed, I have mostly seen the opposite. He's a selfish, offence-only guy who does a few things very well, but has no character.

I have softened in my want for Eichel, watching this playoff and seeing what has worked the last few seasons, I don't think Eichel is the answer and would be a very "Toronto" type of move. Would lead to a great regular season, but I'm not sure the results would be there in the playoffs.

Rangers need to identify the youth they want to keep around and then surround them with 2 way, heavy playing, veteran talent.

They’ll pass on Eichel long before they give up Kakko and a package full of others. Damaged goods

Thats a very good offer for Buffalo, they should take it. They will be putting themselves in cap hell moving forward though. Only 1M coming off the books next year to extend Zib, Fox, and Kravtsov. Then only 3.5M the next year to extend Laffy, Miller, and Jones.

Also no chance Goodrow signs that low

Flat cap possibly for years, fans will realize bottom six guys aren't getting overpaid like they usually do, teams aren't loaded with cap space

I want Hertl and would talk to SJ to see if they are rebuilding (they should) or wait to see who is available in 2022 (Hertl as a FA? Courtier? Reinhart?. etc). As I said I dont know if I even want Eichel as I feel he's like Zibanejad, flashy, skill and the Rangers seem to have too much of that

They very well might and of course it depends on offers and what team/s think of his health. I basically did this because as I put in the description of the trade, fan bases dont understand "value"

It'll come down to the other offers on the table and if there's a bidding war. Both offers (yours above and the one in this AGM) are well within the reasonable range of what a deal might actually realistically look like. Strome makes some sense to help shelter the young centers.

I agree Rangers should shouldn't even go after him honestly, Mika isn't a healthy Eichel, but he's a 70P player and will sign cheaper than Eichel costs, and then you can probably find a 50-60 point center for 50/60% of the cost of Eichel as well.. You're paying like 2-3M more for 2 centers then than you are for just Eichel and Rangers keep most of their young kids.

As an oilers fan, I am only accepting if Mike Smith retires, or doesn’t resign. Georgeiv is good, and that is not an overpay!

Rangers might be able to get more than a 3rd round pick (or he could be used in a package). I just basically traded him for cap purposes just to show what an Eichel trade could look like

With Strome being a short term option, if Kakko busts , this trade ends up being Schneider and a mid 1st. So it’s for sure risky for Buffalo

Are you referring to Goodrow? JT Miller played bottom 6 in Tampa, Goodrow is a vital piece to Tampa’s success and teams will pay him well to join their club. Your offer definitely gets beat

What makes you think the sabres would even want Kakko? He doesn’t even have 20 career goals yet.

I agree with that. Original ask was from Buffalo around 4 1sts equivalent. I figure slightly under that probably gets the job done. Couple 1sts + Schneider and maybe a lesser prospect like Barron or 2.
Tough seeing any team willing to chance more than that on a guy who's career might be over with this surgery.

No Buf fan is ever doing Kakko + Laf + 3 1sts. It's always just Rangers fans and their strome + 5th best prospect and some picks for a top center. Then they act like Sabres fans are asking for the moon.

I literally just saw a Lafaniere + Kakko + 2 1sts so yeah they do, even 2 1sts with Kakko and Lafraniere isn't happening

As I stated I'd rather see if SJ is willing to rebuild (and wow they should) and rather do something like Chytil and 15 for Hertl (with extension). Rangers need to diversify their team, he's cheaper in $ and assets, wins face offs, he's got some size/grit, plays defense, pretty much all the things Eichel isn't great at he's more of another Zibanejad but if healthy better offensively, but I think Rangers with their wingers, their puck moving dmen (Fox, Lundkvist) and a better bottom six (can add better guys with a cheaper option than Eichel) can win with Zibanejad/Hertl up top

I mean there's a lot of wise ways to build the team. None of them involve trading Chytil. And none of them involve keeping Mika or Strome. Re-evaluate appropriately.
