Eichel

Created by: Jah1722
Team: 2021-22 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 8, 2021
Published: Jun. 8, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think CAR will be interested in every big name that becomes available. They have plenty of pieces to make them all happen it’s just a matter of cap space.

Eichel will probably be highest of the cap hits of the players available unless Marner hits the block. I think CAR would need to find a way to save 700k on their signings to make it work. Going back to an 82 game schedule and most likely getting rid of the taxi squad teams will have to carry at least 22 players. I got CAR to 21.

Other options could be Reinhart, Taresenko, Rakell, possibly Laine, Boeser, or Konecny.

Buffalo fans are going to want Necas, but I think this is the most that the Canes should give. If that means we are out of the Eichel sweepstakes, so be it.

So many Eichel trades…

I don’t think Eichel with the entire Canes team this year go any further in the playoffs than they did.

If we let Hamilton go (which I personally hope we do), we will be open to several new possibilities.

That’s fair but I do think the Canes look into Eichel but end up settling on someone else. I was just looking if it was possible to keep Dougie and acquire Eichel. It’s possible but would take some cap gymnastics.

BUF fans are gonna be disappointed in the return. That’s for sure.

This is a pretty solid offer for the Sabres that I can also see the Canes actually doing.

If they let Dougie go that’s an even bigger hole to fill than the top 6 scorer. Dougie has his faults but the Canes are far better with him than without.

Very true, but he is asking for 10 mil. Don't think we'll be able to squeeze that out, so it's best we let him walk in FA not because he is super bad or anything, but it's just such a high price tag. We could give a guy like Barrie or call me crazy, but maybe even Jones a look to fill his spot. But like you said, it would be a very tough spot to fill.

You don’t want Barrie. He rode McDavid Draisatl and that PP to his scoring numbers. Everything else was awful. If Dougie walks, Jones and one of the “smaller” top 6 fish wouldn’t be too bad. I know Jones’ numbers are awful too but he did carry the CBJ defense when they beat TB.

The Canes have plenty of prospects to do just about anything they want.

Yeah the Jones option sounds a bit more intriguing. Just imagine a Slavin-Jones pairing. His analytics don't even matter because you can ride him the whole game and he'll still look good as new (a quality Dougie certainly doesn't have). I just hope we can make a nice splash instead of just dipping our toe in the water this offseason.

A couple of other things I would do differently now that I have looked at the roster deeper.

- I wouldn't bring back Paquette. Paquette was pretty useless for the most part and it's not like he is a veteran leader that does all the little things right.
- I would sign Bean cheaper, even if that means he would only want 1 year. I don't think he is worth that for now. Probably put that money into a better backup or the next bullet point
- I would try to sign a UFA replacement(Coleman would be the top UFA for me) instead of Foegele and trade his rights

Oh, I can say that's not true lmao. Being able to run a 2nd line with Eichel would be matchup hell for most teams. It would also make our PP better then relying on Svech dot shots

Paquette is basically a filler for a grinding 4th line C that makes near league minimum.

I wasn’t sure of most of the RFA’s prices but tried to go bridges to when Staal and Fast were up and the D core basically all had 1 yr left so the cap could be figured out a little more by then. Foegele just is too old for the bridge. I think the problem with Coleman is he’s gonna want quite a bit of money for a 3rd liner to leave TB.

Also I think Elliot was okay but he just played for a dumpster fire in PHI.

I mean Vasilevskiy was at the top of his game so idk if Eichel would have made a difference. But he definitely would have helped create more high danger chances both 5v5 and PP.

Eichel has a better shot than every single cane and having Eichel with Svechnikov and Staal would have given you 2 insane lines and probably open nets, power play goals would have increased might have looked like Tampa lol...

Eichel would make our team deadly, but I'm not quite sure if I would give this for him. It's just that I don't want to give a 2C, A future 2C, A future top 6 winger, a high 20's first, and a 2nd in a very deep draft class for what would be our 2C. This is a very close offer though, just I'd like to take one of Jarvis or Suzuki off.

I think this looks really good. As for a little bit more needed cap space, I think you can take some money off both the bean and foegele deal. I’d see bean around a mil less and foegele around 700k less. I’d also just be open to trading foegele as I feel he is replaceable with a cheaper player.

In the Eichel trade I would upgrade the 2nd to a 1st and I’d switch out bokk for Jarvis

Yea it's alot but this team would be deadly, and Eichel would be you new best player, maybe Slavins better but I think Eichel on the canes would be a top 5 player in the world.
