Yeah I don't think the Wild are that stupid.

And why is Carolina trading a 2nd in 2022 and a 3rd to move up one spot this year in the mid 20s?

High price to pay to get rid of a half retained Parise. We're honestly better off just buying him out if this is what it would take to trade him at half retention

What is this... a Nolan Patrick trade for ANTS??!

The real return has to be at least... 3x as big as this!

So that was mostly an excuse to use that magical reference but yeah I'd say ~2x as Patrick's flaws are greatly exaggerated and Gambrell has awful corsi

Patrick still so young & trying to stabilize after chaos

Once he (likely) does should be quite good in prime

His buyout is particularly unfavourable tho 😬

As far as buyouts go

Doesn't really fit their Kaprizov timeline either

Just send us a draft pick and don’t give Donato a QO. We don’t want him at his QO price tag

Everything is unfavorable, but his buyout is far more favorable than trading two firsts to move half his salary.

They'd be moving up 4 spots. Check the CapFriendly history of 1st rd position trades and you'll see the precedent for such a trade.

Start a MIN AGM team and buyout Parise. You'll see exactly how buyout proof his contract is. Trading for 1/2 retention is a SWEEEEEET deal.

I would love to hear how you came to the conclusion that the difference between 27 and 26 is 4.

I have, it's not bad at all after 4 years and we get rid of a headache. We're probably better off just keeping him here unhappy than a buyout, but if it came to it then I'd much rather do that than lose a ton of picks/prospects just to offload him. Besides, if he retires on the team we traded him to we'll be screwed with cap recapture anyways, which is WAY worse than buying him out.

Funny title as this AGM is detailed, clever and tactful

Unlike you know who 😏

Cap space is the essence of cap friendly 💧

Dude, are you new? Draft position is relative to Reg Szn rank AND Playoff Rd exit. They're trading up from 23 to 19. Jumping up 4 spots in the 1st rd is expensive.

Sorry, you think Pittsburgh's pick this season is 19th, and you're asking me if I'm new?

That may be true, IF he retires (which I doubt he would) but MIN is about to sign Kaprizov for an 8x8, and getting ~$4M off your cap for a couple 1sts is a meh draft is a boss move.

There's a chance he might, the guy will is 36 and most players don't make it to 38-39, let alone 40 when his deal expires.

I doubt we sign Kaprizov to 8x8. He has reportedly been offered around this, but if he hasn't taken it already then I have a feeling he wants less term. My guess is we get him for around $7M x 5 years, maybe a little over $7M. Doesn't really matter, we have the cap to make that work without making any moves so why force a Parise trade and lose assets? That's just poor asset management. He signed the deal and if nobody wants him then he's just going to have to accept a smaller role here.

1) parise will never ever waive for a rebuilding team in San Jose

2) Wild don't need to get rid of Parise that much to give away two 1st round pick

Nah, just because you, & others think it's a meh draft doesn't mean much

Wild have one of the best scout in the game now with judd brackett. As long wild have him, they will draft good players
