Team: 2021-22 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 8, 2021
Published: Jun. 9, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Barron - 6’4 & 220lbs
Gettinger - 6’6 & 220lbs
Rueschhoff - 6’7 & 230lbs

I really wouldn’t mind seeing this as our 4th line. Rooney/Blackwell/DiGiuseppe/Howden have been fine the last year or so but I want to see some big boys on the 4th to throw their weight around. This can be done from within the organization and not lose any picks/prospects/players doing so. I want 15-20 games like this to start the season and if needed we have tons of space to make big moves if needed.

I’d rather just take the 300k buyout or whatever it is for DeAngelo than give up a draft pick.

The 900k the following year may be needed with resigning guys. That’s the only reason I did it.

Why sign and trade for Lunqvist?
Been a year sign NYR bought him out, they can sign him directly, no?

His buyout is still on the books so I didn’t think we could

Get fourth liners who actually produce. Tim Gettinger sucks and Austin Rueschoff was a 4th liner in the AHL all season.

We have 3 lines to produce. Kassian and Reaves don’t produce and many want to add them

Well Kassian and Reaves also suck, lol. Rather sign a winger like Corey Perry for a year and stick Colin Blackwell in between him and Morgan Barron for a year. Then in 2022-23 you call up Will Cuylle

Ya that could work too. Just an idea I had, and the main focus is not changing the top 9, Basically the same D and G. Scoring wasn’t a problem for us and Defensively we were solid. The rough start to the season and man games missed killed us.

      I don’t think that matters.
      They can sign him.

But we will take Rooney back. He was one of our best PK’ers.

I hope you’re right about that. So just a signing works.

No it doesn't work, stick a fork in him, he's done. It's over...
Also size doesn't just mean size...

I feel like he may get into great shape to give it one last go for a cup or 2. I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying about size??

He is also only 25 and most G don’t jump into the league as super stars. Kosk was in his 30’s I believe when you guys first played him

Your 4th line size is passive, we need aggressive/defensive/experience

Are you saying they are the same? Because it’s not. There’s 7 years difference between the 2 and they started in the nhl at the same time. This is a VERY VERY different situation lol

Offence is something you can’t teach but defending and toughness is something that can. That’s why I was thinking about this. But tbh I haven’t watched these guys in the A

I was just saying Koskinen isn't a good comparison as it has not gone well for Edmonton. Most of that is Chia's fault for that contract (which was the final straw that got him fired). If he signed 3 years at $2mil we'd have a serviceable back-up at an OK rate.

That being said, although he's only 25 Georgiev's sv% has dropped every year and is below league average. I would not be paying a 1st let alone a 2nd for him.
