Caps Fans Which Unrealistic Scenario Do You Prefer 2

Description
This scenario is a lot easier on the cap. For this one I opted to move Hagelin instead of Eller so we're not forcing McMichael into a top-nine role right away, but there's still merit to keeping Hagelin around even at that price tag.

I think Hertl is pretty underrated and is an above average 2C. He's got an awesome skillset and a solid two-way game. His contract situaiton makes San Jose listen to offers on him, and a potential starting goalie and potential top six center is too good to pass up on for a guy they'll probably lose to UFA anyways.

Dumba for Kuznetsov has been featured on this site quite a bit, and I think it's a good move for both sides. It seems they both could use a change of scenery. I've really liked Schultz's game since he got here, but if we can upgrade + get a draft pick back, I'm doing it all day.

Same thing applies with the Andersen and Martinez deals as the other post.

Basically the question is, would you rather have the potential franchise altering piece in Eichel but sacrificing a lot of draft capital and cap space to do it, or make a smaller upgrade at center, plus an upgraded defense and having more cap space + draft picks? My concern with this team is that it's not enough of an upgrade to be a legitimate Cup threat and extend the window.

This one's better because they have five guys who usually play center. That way if someone gets hurt, they don't just call up whoever, each time, but they have someone ready, who knows the game plan. Eichel is awesome, when healthy, though.

No it’s not. A young 1B and a highly skilled playmaking center prospect for an expiring UFA top 6 center is more than fair.

I don't think we'll make an offer for Kuzy. Guerin has mad an effort to get guys that want to compete and win and give their best effort on a nightly basis and Kuzy doesn't really fit that. He'd be great on paper though.

I like this one better and think it's more realistic obviously. Plus have more cap cushion for some of the salaries you may have undercut.

If we could get Seattle to take Dillon that would be fantastic. I wanna keep Jensen. I’d also swap out McMichael on the fourth line for Leason and get AJF in some games as well. We need our young guys getting some minutes.

It says he comes with an extension in the trade.

He’s not just a top 6 center. He’s a top line center with an extremely great contract. If the sharks put him on trade, every single team would call and this offer wouldn’t be near the best

It sounds like there's disagreement over whether Lapierre is the kid who was projected as a top five pick before he got hurt, or the kid whose future was questionable on draft day, and who fell to the end of the first round. I think the Caps hold onto him, then. What would you want from WSH if SJ were to offer to trade their second-best #1C?

I love Lapierre, but hes a huge risk and shouldnt be treated as a top ten prospect yet. I could see a deal where Kuznetsov and Hertl swap teams
