    Avs pass on that

Timmins is worth more to the Avs than taking a shot at what would be a back up goalie. Avs wont make Vanecek the starter and let Grubauer walk and with Francouz already under contract, the need for another back up with Frankie doesnt make sense

I mean Vanecek is going to be better than “just a backup goalie.” And protas isn’t a nothing prospect. I feel like you’re really underestimating what’s coming back the other way.

Vanecek isnt an establisehd starter yet. He might be in a season or 2 but he only has 37 career starts all from last year. The sample size is too small to consider him as a starter on a team. When the Avs picked up Grubauer he had well over a 100 NHL starts, and he was still a platoon spot with Varly. Vanecek deostn have the sample size for a team to trust yet

I wouldn't risk that and if you acquire him hes your backup 1B. No cup contender is turning the crease over to him

Protas is a nice prospect but is he any better than Ranta, Kaut, Bowers, Beaucage, Foudy etc that are all in the Avs system. Assets are nice but he would be another body in that log jam and isnt NHL ready yet.

2 pieces from the Avs NHL roster for a prospect and a gamble in Net with Avs already having 2m for Frankie on the books. doesnt really benefit the Avs at all. The offer isnt bad but there is no benefit on the Avs side of thing to help improve their NHL roster
