Way too little for a potential 1st line forward who fits in most team’s top 6 and a 4th line center who has potential to being a 3rd liner.

Devils decline.
They'll have better options with their pick.

I agree with you to be honest but wanted to hear some input on that trade. See now that some Devils fan actually declined that trade... I dont know...

You think that the Sharks, who got a late 1st round pick for Barclay Goodrow last year would accept a late 1st round pick for Timo Meier, much less for Timo AND another player?

Yeah, no.

I'd like very much to hear what player that Devs fan thinks they're going to draft in a shallow, weird as hell, incredibly hard to scout year, with the 29th overall pick, who's going to be better than Meier.

Where would Meier fit in the lineup? He did statically worse than almost every winger in the Devils top 6. And with Foote, Holtz, and maybe Mercer coming into the lineup next year, there's no room for Meier. Rather draft a defensemen or use the pick to trade for a defenseman

I disagree. There is room for him right next to Nico. A common theme amongst devils fans is “ oh, we have holtz, Mercer, Foote, Clarke, etc.” We need some guys who have NHL experience. Can’t all be super young

You mean replacing Zacha or Bratt, who both did better than Meier last year?

Zacha might be the one you pkg for a D man
His #s were good but mostly against bad teams. I think there is a big move coming myself.

I rather trade the Islanders first in a package for a defensemen
That second line of Bratt Nico and Zacha was amazing when fully healthy. All of them are best friends off the ice too so I doubt Fitz trades Zacha

Zacha- Hischier- Meier
Bratt can play on third line with Holtz with Boqvist or Kuokkanen at center

What would the cost be for the Canes to get Meier?

There are plenty of worthwhile vets that won't cost $26 million over next three years.
Even Jake Voracek, who has produced more, will make less. And Flyers are trying to dump him.

Almost all players have played. Not hard to scout. Some potential steals in the late first. Devils might rather take a whack at a sure steal like Pastujov (unless he gets taken early) or a potential steal like Morrow or anyone who falls to the Isles pick. Draft being "chaotic" and "hard to scout" is incredibly overblown.

Zacha, in games with Nico (Wing): 17 pts in 16 gp
Zacha, in games without Nico (Center): 18 pts in 34 gp

Lets give him a year playing full-time on Nico's wing before we move him

I get the Hischier - Meier Swiss connection...they looked great at the Worlds.
But same happened two years ago with Kevin Fiala. And everyone wanted to pay give up the farm for Fiala.

Hischier has a very positive effect on his linemates' production.
With his return...and some better puck retrieval and zone exit by dman...our existing wings will do fine.

Actually, u mentioning Fiala proves my point even further. If we could go back two to three years ago, I think we would give up some picks and prospects to get Fiala. Kids a stud

1st round / 2nd round are not much different that previous years. Maybe a little misalignment.
But the 5th, 6th, 7th rounds are where it is going to be hard.

I think the biggest steals will happen with (a) some of the foreign players that were slated to play CHL this year and (b) US High School players (including Prep) in leagues that didn't play. This was supposed to be a good crop for both groups - yet we are not seeing many of these guys in top-50, top-100 lists.

Would you have given up Bratt + 2020 1st (Holtz) / this is years #4 pick for Fiala?
That was the price then.

Sure I'll go along with that
But if the chemistry is not there early move him
