Not sure what the Leafs protected list would like to be honest. Was watching Leafs lunch and wanted to check it out as Gord Miller was talking about maximizing $40M on stars. Compared the Leafs with the final 5 teams in the playoffs. Was interesting.

yeah, they cant 'take' him, but the leafs could trade him there for taking the ufa rights to someone who isnt gonna sign like joe thornton or something.

Advanced analytics support this too. Seth Jones is wildly overrated, and to think trading a top five point scorer in the NHL for him is just bad. It wasn't even a down year for Jones, over the last three years, he's bottom tier in goals above replacement offensively and defensively while getting top tier time on ice. Brodie's defensive GAR is in the 85th percentile in the NHL, and I still wouldn't trade Marner for him straight up.

I think thatd be a huge overpayment lol. I'd rather lose Kerfoot to seattle than Sandin who has top 2 potential

oh for sure, it would be dumb as hell to even consider having sandin go to Seattle (unless they had some nice assets from other teams in the draft that were worth it). I was just saying how he technically COULD go to seattle in the expansion draft.

Marner > Jones and Merzlikins. And you have two second round picks accompanying Marner to Columbus. If Kekalainen didn't take that deal, he'd be fired on the spot lol.

We have no interest in giving away our expansion-exempt starting goaltender as a throw-in. Feel free to take the picks out of the deal if need be to accommodate that.
