Description
Here's what the Sens should look like in October:

Expansion Draft - the Sens expose some of their awkward contracts, and Seattle scoops up a high-octane offensive player who seemed lost last season, but recently was a great goal scorer in Florida.

Trade - Sens get an offensive play driver in Sean Monahan by swapping first-round spots, trading a mysterious prospect in Logan Brown, a solid two-way player in Colin White and a future NHL starter in Joey Daccord.

Signing - Adam Larsson is brought in to shore up the right-side of the D after the Oilers pick Barrie's offensive upside over Larsson's steady defensive presence.

I'll take that as a Flames fan, but I should let you know that Monahan isn't a play driver. If anything he's an anchor that can shoot well when he gets fed perfect passes.

Awkward contracts, very nice rhetoric.

Ottawa is not exposing Murray (or Zaitsev or White and probably not Dadonov), and Seattle is taking a goaltender unless Ottawa pays a price.

You don’t think they’re exposing Murray? Gustavsson has been the future for a while and was really good this year, I’d imagine they’d want to protect their young, future starter than the slightly older, overpaid goalie who struggled this year. They can say all the nice things about thinking he can bounce back but that doesn’t make exposing Gustavsson the right decision in any scenario imo. I can understand protecting Zaitsev over J. Brown (mostly because neither are good but Zaitsev at least plays regularly), but it makes more sense to expose Zaitsev because taking that contract helps us. White will be protected.

Zaitsev plays 23 minutes a night, and they like him, continuing to say he’s hard to play against.

Murray is their golden boy right now. If the organization thought Gus was ready, they wouldn’t have signed Murray. The team understands that a proven starter that played very well once healthy, is a safer bet than a 23 year old prospect with 9 NHL games.

I think Seattle takes a goalie, and it might be Gus, but the team still has Daccord, Sogaard, and Merilainen.

I’m expecting;
NHL Murray, Forsberg
AHL Gustavsson, Daccord, Sogaard (two of)

I suppose I’m expecting this as well, but if we lose Gustavsson as a result I’m gonna be pissed. I would legitimately prefer to give up an asset to ensure Gustavsson gets protected than leave him fully exposed (give Logan Brown to ensure they take Tierney?). Him and Sogaard are the only legitimate prospects with starter upside in the pipeline imo (everyone else is a wildcard at best). None of this matters if we draft Wallstedt of course, but that happens post-expansion draft unfortunately.

I like that trade for both OTT and CGY, and I think Monahan would fit very nicely with Stuetzle.

Nice work.
