Elite Offseason

Created by: Wereateam17
Team: 2021-22 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 10, 2021
Published: Jun. 10, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1. Trade for both vince dunn and sam reinhart (I know the reinhart trade wouldn't be the best idea but at some point they have start acquiring actual talent rather than just going for depth players on cap strapped teams)
2. draft either luke hughes or brandt clarke
3. Have Johnsson picked up in the XD
4. Sign Dougie Hamilton
5. Have Foote/Bahl/Holtz all make the roster out of training camp
6. Resign Matt Tennyson (jk)
7. Trade Butcher somewhere, so he doesn't end up playing like twenty games in one season
None of this is gonna end up happening and its all just wishful thinking but it would still be fun to at least enjoy watching the devils have a good offseason. Also don't come after me sabres fans cause I honestly don't know what reinhart is worth, I just guessed a middle six forward, a late first, and a most likely an early 2nd round pick.

That's not enough for Reinhart. Wood is a great starting piece but I'd be looking for a good prospect like Foote or Mercer too

Considering the positive impact Tennyson has had on Devils young defense off the ice, especially Ty Smith, I think re-upping with is a good move.

Hamilton would be great but probably unlikely.
Everything else looks realistic to me.

Hey Dougie, welcome to NJ ... like that new contract? So do we here in the State Senate, we'll take 10.75% of that bad boy off your hands.

Excited to be in a state ranked #1? Well if so, NJ is the place for you ... we dominate the property tax rankings.

Enjoy your stay. Glad you chose NJ, when you could have gone just about anywhere else.

NJ should trade Wood for Dunn 1 for 1. Just saying, works for both teams.

The gap between high-tax states and low-tax states keeps getting wider as people flee NY and NJ and with SALT exemption changed.

Any player would be leaving huge sums of money on the table to go to NJ. And I hate that.

It's an unfortunate reality that really tips the competitive balance. Though there are many other factors that work for and/or against all the teams in some way ... cost of living, entertainment / cultural venues, environmental, transportation, Healthcare, homes, schools etc etc. Some places have more to offer than others ... NJ hits them in the wallet, but has many other redeeming factors.
