Are you confusing value with leverage and what teams may offer to take advantage of that leverage? Two different things.

LA is no longer in on Eichel according to Friedman. Likely because they arent willing to do the surgery he wants

Buffalo probably doesn't even know how much they want for Eichel yet, and I agree. I would downgrade one of Vilardi or Turcotte to a lesser prospect.

That’s exactly the point. In my opinion, this is lower than eichel’s worth, but probably a little higher than what most would want to pay right now. Hence, a solid offer for the Sabres to consider

Healthy Eichel=This would hurt, but I'd definitely consider it if I was the Kings.
Eichel with question marks=I ain't giving up the equivalent of 3 lotto picks and a early 2nd who has already made a successful transition to pro hockey at 19.

This is such a "Buffalo" situation, IMO. LIke, I find it hard to believe they're going to get the return that they want while Eichel has question marks around that neck. But...it's also going to be virtually impossible to move him in-season with that big of a cap hit. You're not going to retain on it, which really limits the suitors, and again, probably limits your return.

I'm going to guess that Eichel gets moved on Draft day, 2022...right before his NMC kicks in and further f**ks the Sabres.

My esteemed colleague nails two points that almost everyone overlooks in these Eichel-trade discussions: (1) it would be foolish to make any franchise-changing trade (which one like this would be) until we've all seen how he plays in actual NHL games next season, and (2) it would be very difficult to work Eichel's $10 million cap hit into a team's existing roster once the season starts unless at least 50% of the cap was coming back.

but, i can be fairly certain that Buffalo fans are overvaluing and fans from other teams are undervaluing.
if i had to pick a side, the trade will most likely reflect non-Buffalo fans opinions.
