Description
Clearly I made a few edits because Keith isn't going to BUF. ZERO chance that happens. Not even worth posting that part.

Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Eichel, Jack
Additional Details:
Kirby Dach is obviously the main piece. Putting him back together with Cozens could truly be a really good thing for BUF going forward. Reichel is a responsible 2-way forward and the 1st this year should help too.
BUF
  1. Connolly, Brett
  2. Dach, Kirby
  3. De Haan, Calvin
  4. Reichel, Lukas
  5. Seabrook, Brent
  6. 2021 1st round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
Let's break down the cap implications on this side.

DeHaan has 1 year left of $4.5M and Connelly 2 years at $3.5M There needs to be a cap rebalancing that occurs when a $10M player gets traded. $8M going back has to be a guarantee.

The additional piece is Seabs. This really shouldn't be a big deal for BUF. They're NOT remotely close to the cap ceiling...and won't be any time soon because of their ELCs not getting raises. SO all BUF needs to do is be cap compliant on day 1 and then Seabs goes to LTIR. VERY easy to do.

No worries. I wasn't trying to be mean about it. Just pointing it out.

A lot of cap dumps going the other way make the value better, but it's a splashy move that really doesn't help our position much. There's so many pieces we need before we can contend. My preference is that we continue developing and see if Dach can become a player comparable to Eichel on his own.

The only thing I'd mention to that though is $9M in cap space. Getting a high end UFA is very realistic. Maybe it's Seth Jones or Linhold next year?

We would have that option without this trade. This team isn't physically or mentally mature enough to compete. Let them develop naturally.

BUF probably says yes. Not sure if the Hawks would want to do this though. Dach is a beast

I think the deciding factor in this trade is by the time Dach reaches his peak where will Kane and Toews be career wise if Chicago wants one more run with them they make this trade and it's not like Eichel will be over the hill a couple of years from now.

Dach will never be on the same level as Eichel? Is that really a question?
Adding Eichel for these pieces makes complete sense for the Hawks. All they need is to find a top pairing defenseman and they become a playoff team. Its either make big moves now or prepare for mediocrity for many years to come. The hawks don't have any superstars in the pipeline and constantly 8-15 wont get you one either. When Toews and Kane aren't useful anymore the hawks are will be stuck in mediocrity.

If they want another run they will sign cheaper contracts and transition to depth roles. We have a good thing going rebuild wise and sacrificing it now in a half hearted/foolish attempt to contend is not going to leave anyone satisfied.

Debrincat is going to be a top 5 goal scorer for the next decade, Dach is also projected to be up there and has show he can play playoff hockey in the series last year. Is eichel a top 10 player in the league I don't think so. Could he get there, perhaps its more likely then the 2 mentioned but organic growth with good surrounds is a good move for us to take.
