The fact that a certain group of Leafs fans absolutely hate Marner for signing a massive deal, and also for disappearing in the playoffs, but are prepared to overpay massively for Hyman because "Grit! Leadershipzzzz! Heart!!!", and forget that he also disappeared during the playoffs is the purest form of entertainment available today.

Hyman is worth $4.5-5 mil, and anything over that is a massive overpay. You don't blow your budget trying to re-sign a Hyman type player, you go out and find the next Hyman-type player.

That is a horrible Hyman contract, and that defence is bad. Also, the top 6 equals 53.6M! That’s crazy!

If that’s what Hyman wants, he can get it somewhere else.

I love the guy (clearly) and he deserves his pay day. But anything more than $5M and Toronto has to let him walk.

Leafs already have enough Scoring.....They need more Defence IMO. And your spend nearly $60 million on that top 6 just to be disappointed in the playoffs again. If they Leafs want to make a deep run in the playoffs and compete with these top American teams they really need to upgrade the Defence.

It’s not depth, it’s the core 4 that needs to come through

Yeah, he absolutely might, but any team doing it will be have buyers remorse pretty quickly. Hyman with a 6-7 x $6-8 mil deal would be a buyout candidate within 2 years.

Leafs had a top 5 Defence against Canadian teams, Wait till they start playing teams Like Tampa and Boston, NYI, COL, Carolina,VGK, WSH, etc, That defence won't get it done against those teams
