Grubaur and Jost get more. You have the cap here to give it to them though

Robin Lehner, who came with a lot more question marks than Grubby, just got 5 x $5 to split games 50/50 with MAF. Grubby gets more.

They thought he was their starter when they signed that but point taken. I was curious what these players are going to get since it looks like Colorado is finally going to have to think about the cap after having cheap deals all around for years. Just wait for Mckinnon in two more years, yikes.

What is Jost looking at? Grub I can see getting a bit more but not a ton, maybe $5.5M? Maybe I am biased since he let in a few soft goals in game 6 and honestly everytime I watch Colorado (few times a year) he lets in softies.

Probably at least $2M AAV low on Makar, Chabot got 8x8 and Makar is significantly better than Chabot and Chabot is awesome. Jost is getting a little more. Grubauer is going to get $6M from someone Markstrom did and Grubauer is better.

The cap isn’t going to be 81.5 forever, it’s also why guys like Byram, Newhook, Barron, Helleson, Jost and LOC are so important to this team. In the case of the 1st 3 potential high end talent on the later 3 valuable mid tier talent that plays important roles all cost controlled.

I don't think they'll be super worried about it, tbh. I honestly think this summer will be the hardest one for them, and it'll be easier the following two offseasons. EJ expires at the same point as MacKinnon, so even if you go for the Matthews deal, you're essentially covered there. I'd also assume that they'll just replace guys like Bura, Kadri, etc. with cheaper options by then. They've got a pretty reasonable contract flow going on, which is rare.

Jost should get 2x2 and grubauer 6x6 based on market value

And disagree about him letting in softies, he is not at all prone to that

Cap will be flat 3-5 years, so it’s hard to gauge values

I think 5 is pessimistic, and if the league could get its head out of its ass and market and officiate the games the way they should it would definitely be 3.

And I do think the market will be hard to gauge especially the middle 6 second pairings of the world. I also think the flat cap is why you are going to see all the high end talent coming off ELC’s elect bridge deals, but IMO if Makar told Sakic he would sign an 8 yr deal you know Chabot’s deal is literally getting added to significantly.

5 is what was mentioned on Friedman’s 31 thoughts podcast, he said he got a text from someone in the league that it could be flat up to 5 years

I also saw where Betttman said the ESPN tv contract was probably going to make it so it wasn’t 5 years. Don’t remember but it was specifically related to the tv.
