Oilers 21-22

Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 11, 2021
Published: Jun. 11, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Building a stable bottom six for depth, adding a right hand centreman and a couple of guys with good track records that can move up and down the lineup if needed. Also a bit of grit without sacrificing too much speed or skill.

My thoughts with Brown is adding an older guy on an expiring contract instead of signing a FA LW, only tying up that money for 1 year instead of 4-6. A guy that can play top six, has won at every level and brings experience and net front presence. With both Lavoie and Holloway getting a good start at the AHL maybe those two are your adds at the deadline or at some point in the year and you don't need to overpay for a top 6 LW long term on the FA market with those cheaper options coming up the pipe, seeing what guys like Caufield have done so early I think the Oilers are due for a few guys playing over their head salary wise on entry level deals. like we have seen with so many successful clubs. (Edited this on advice from a TB fan, adding Killorn for a 2 year term would definitely be a better situation, I dodn't think there was a chance of getting him for as little assets as this)

Leaving some cap space in case Klefbom can return, if he doesn't can possibly replace if needed, also resigned Koekkoek instead of Kulikov because he can play either side so is a good 7th man in case of injury if Klef can return, if not a suitable third pair guy.

Tampa Bay will be in a reducing cap situation, if you want to trade with them, you should ask for more! the kinda trade that is very possible is Stalock and a 3rd in exchange for Killorn! This guy would be a gigantic add to this team, and his salary will fit in your team

That's a very good point thanks, I had a similar trade for Killorn in another version I didn't publish I do believe you are correct he would be a huge add for this club.

Im a Tampa Bay fan, it would hurt to see Killorn go for Stalock, but we will have no other choice because of the cap situation. Killorn on the 2nd line in Edmonton will be fantastic. He will also be a great add to the 1st powerplay and the 2nd PK. Great underrated player he is

Stalock for a 5 probably not TBL backup Goalie may be the most insignificant position in Hockey. Vasy plays 60 games get at least a.7 ppg meaning 84 points in the standings since the turn of the century no team reaching 97 points in a full season has missed the playoffs. Essentially the backup has to pull 13 points in 22 games any NHL goalie should be able to do that behind TB. Heck most AHL goalies probably could.
He and a 3 for Killorn hair light but doable

Detroit says no for the following reasons:

1. Detroit already have 9 waiver eligible wingers penned in for next year + Raymond and Berggren.
2. Detroit already have 4 LD prospects newly signed + 2 more unsigned.
3. Detroit took on Staal this year for one year and got a 2nd round pick for the trouble. Staal was useful, he was needed. Neal is not useful and it's for two years.

If you want Detroit to take on Neal then you have to offer way, way more for us to do it. The price for a player that was useful was one 2nd round pick per year, this is two years for a player that is of no use to Detroit. It'll cost you either two bluechip prospects that fills a position of need for Detroit or at least two 1st round picks.

If you think that's too much then Detroit is happy for you to find another solution with other teams.

Remember that how you and your team values Neal doesn't affect how Detroit values him.
