The Jets aren't trading Heinola for a 30 year old rental that won't waive for Winnipeg anyways.

Nah avs are not interested in that deal. They are. Better team with girard Newhook and signing grubauer

This trade doesn’t help them just creates 2 holes in their roster

Gibson's trade value is a total mystery to me.
If you told me it was twice this, or one-half this, I'd believe you either way.

If you are ANA, you ONLY trade Gibson if he is becoming a UFA and says he isn't re-signing. He is a franchise goalie...you don't trade those!

Agree with you that they don't make that trade, but I'm not so sure they sign Grubauer (or should).

He’s been solid for them all 3 seasons and is up for the Veizna. I don’t see why they wouldn’t. He’s been good enough to win in the playoffs too

Just sign the guy that you know at worst is a top 15 goalie.

Reckon it's fair to err on the lower side atm

He doesn't fit their time line at all

He hasn't been even close to elite recently

His contract becomes a burden when they're ready

We could get more for Gibson.
We could get more for Lindholm.

Maybe he hasn't been elite because their team is absolute trash right now. How does a 27 yo goalie not fit their timeline? He should be their goalie for the next decade.

Agreed, he has been solid, but he's also never played more than 40 games in a season, either . . . and unfortunately, Grubauer didn't play his best hockey when the games got tougher against Vegas. The bar for this team is the cup. If Colorado has to pony up 6 + million for 5 - 6 years to keep Grubauer in the fold (because someone else very well might in a little over a month), are they confident enough that he's the guy to get them there to make that financial commitment?

he played a full season this year and didnt have a back up. Dont discount what he did this year.
1st season he platooned with Varly...was solid
last season got a little bit of injury trouble before the covid stoppage
this season was solid and didnt miss a start

Nothign about that series was on Grubi, he was still good against Vegas. If it wasnt for him they wouldnt have made it to game 6. Sorry but I dont agree with your assessment on him. There was maybe 2 goals in that entire series that were questionable, nothing else was short on him based on poor goaltending

Top (paid) starters are typically expected to play 55 - 60 games and Grubauer has never done that AND went on deep playoff runs. I'm not saying they shouldn't re-sign him, but if he commands "top dollar" because it's available to him elsewhere, then if I'm Sakic, I think long and hard about it. If Joe's not supremely confident that Grubauer is "the guy" then he might want to roll the dice elsewhere. The business side sucks. This is a team that in just a couple seasons may very well be into an almost 40 million commitment on 4 players (MacKinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog, Makar), so dollars and confidence in what you're paying for, are totally factors. But hey, happy to be wrong! (usually am, too!)

Markstrom and Binnington sent the market at 6x6. If you want a goalie of that caliber that is what you pay.
That isnt even top dollar anymore, that is just the price of business to have a capable goaltender
