I don't think $4mm is going to be enough for Palmieri. He's had a good playoffs and he's been a consistent 25+ goal scorer. He's probably going to be looking for around $5.5mm to $6mm

Palmieri would want between $5-$6 million, especially after his impressive postseason

Dont disagree at all. I'm just saying I'd only wanna keep him on a short term deal in the 4-4.5 range

A 24 year old winger with great analytics and 25 goal pace is worth 5.5 mill. He’d put up 60-70 pts in another system

If you have a young top 2 defenseman, you can not sign him to a long term deal. You have to keep a top 4 defenseman that's older and more expensive. these are the rules.

If they get Beau for this contract I'd be ecstatic, probably gonna be a bridge deal unfortunately

Like it could work out great if he continues to progress. But you're paying him based on his prorated best and most recent season.

Otherwise he's about 20/45 guy...

Though I suppose Palmieri himself is actually a pretty great comparison and signed (half a ppg winger, solid two way, who was improved to 30/56 in his contract year) and then signed for 6.3% of the cap and term which is like 5.2 mil.

Still I just find the isles cap is really heavily invested in wingers. I guess the advantage beauvillier has over the others is hes younger

The kid literally finished up his age 23 season. He suffered an injury that was tough to get back from. He has 33 pts in his last 37 games, I can guarantee he won’t be a 20/45 guy. He’s just entering his prime- he’s already a fringe top line winger.

Think they can afford the investment in wingers. Have Nelson and Pageau locked up. when Barzal is up for a new deal, Ladd's deal is done (if hes around that long).

If after next year they need to make room for Defense (Pulock/Dobson)) they could move Bailey/Eberle/Varlamov

At least we have pelech and pulock. Thank god for Garth snow, can’t believe I’m saying that.

Was saying the other day i'm shocked he hasnt gotten another crack somewhere given how well the team is doing when they got a real coach. With the exception of the third line, Greene/Dobson, and Varly. its basically his team.
and the hamonic trade to get one of wahlstrom/Dobson.

feel like he was the definition of hit or miss, to an extreme
MDC and griffin reinhart top 5, Ladd, building a roster around JT
Barzal/Beauvillier trades, Pelech/Pulock, Nelson, Eberle trade

I hated Garth snow at the time, but he made some brilliant moves. He was just stubborn and didn’t know how to develop players.

I suppose. They have built their forward corps around the consistently good, without like superstars. So having a bunch of 5-7 million dollar players makes sense.

But next year their signed d would be pelech and Mayfield. Could be a lot of money to resign the d.

I'm also fairly confident that Lee contract will look ugly within a couple years as wingers like him just don't age well. He's worth the contract and it's the cost of doing business. But I just see it aging poorly. Baileys contract already looks poor...

But you have no 9+ mil contracts and that's carrying you well.... So we'll see

Yes, was working and didn't read the whole thing but saw the players he protected. He said Hickey would be the ideal captain of a first year team and i went back to work. What did i miss

Send Ladd to Devils with some goodies.
Palmieri gets his deal.
Everyone wins.

For the deal, lets do Ladd and, say, whoever had the most popular youtube video as a 9 year old.

Agreed Lee is probably gonna be rough at the end.

Bailey has 33 points in his last 34 playoff games. seems fine to me.

Beauvillier is already better than a lot of players that are considered stars in this league by MSM. He increases the rate the isles score goals at an elite rate.

Every team has bad contracts. Lee and baileys contracts aren’t great, but Eberle’s is a steal and he’s a borderline star winger. Wahlstrom will be an elite winger and Barzal is already a superstar.

The isles will have one D making over 7 mill( pulock) and they have 2 D prospects that will be on ELCs. Leddy’s contract will be up.

You love Eberle, but I just don't see it. He's definitely top 6, and he's been at a consistent 20+ goal pace throughout his career. just feels meh to me.
