Description
Thoughts? Trade values and returns ok?
Smaller moves, but addressing some needs. Leaving a little cap space for maybe another move or free agent signing or trade deadline pick up if we are in a playoff spot. I feel the top 2 lines are unchanged, the 3rd line gets a bit of a scoring boost with podkolzin and gally. The 4th line can rotate, play around a bit, move roussel out, plenty of options in Lind, Boyd, graovac, Highmore, gadjovich

Caps fans hated losing Schmidt in the expansion draft, so getting him back is always going to get some cheers, but Dillon had more even strength points last year, and is tougher and cheaper. Is Schmidt more skilled? Yes. But... the cap is flat.

Those Petey and Hughes contracts are way too low and if you sign them over 3 or 4 yrs they become UFAs so its 3 or 7 likely.

Also way too much to give up for Fabbro.

I think if you take out the 2nd and add a mid round pick in the fabbro trade it would be fair

No they don't. They are both still RFA. Look it up on long term outlook. And I laugh at everyone that thinks they are gonna get more than this, they won't sign these massive long term contracts worth 7 or 8 mill.. not happening

I think it's pretty fair value.

Build it from Washington's side and find a way to keep Ovechkin?

It could happen if you convince Seattle to take Schultz, and find a way for Vancouver to take Hagelin in the deal, but Schultz, Schmidt, and Dillon are all about even. Dillon's the toughest one. Schmidt's the most expensive and signed through the highest age. Schultz can put up Schmidt's offensive numbers sometimes, but some years he's inconsistent. More likely the Caps swap Dillon for Woo.

If they sign bridge deals you might get them around 8 if they sign longer deals its likely Petey is around 10 or more and Hughes north of 9.
