I like this, I'm just very torn on trading Jones. I think he's going to be really good. But there is a surplus on defense. I actually love the idea of a Jones/Schneider pairing. But what do you do with Lundqvist? Trade him as part of a package for an Eichel/Barkov type of player?
Anyway, from a Ranger point of view I like this and will absolutely steal some of these for my AGMs

If a 1 year deal worth $2.5M is the worst thing you took out of this, I will take that as a compliment, lol.

Yeah, they will still have to make another move down the line. Gauge how Robertson/Lundkvist/Schneider perform, and then move one of them elsewhere.

The potential for all of them is sky high, at the moment. Tough to say who stays and who goes.

In theory I like the idea of either a Jones/Schneider pairing or Robertson/Lundqvist, because you get a mix of size and puck moving. But you have to see how they develop, work together, etc...

Size reason is why it's easier for me to favor Robertson over Jones on the Left.

Distinguishing between Schneider and Lundkvist is harder for me to do, even with Schneider emerging as the more physical player.

Add a 1st to Strome deal.

Kravtsov should be able to return a top centre prospect one-for-one. Maybe not Byfield, but definitely Turcotte.

Strome could get a 1st, straight up. Not sure if he could grab one with Greenway combined.

Kupari has the ability to play C. While maybe they could include a 3rd instead of a 2nd, I feel that the Rangers need to add something to account for that.

He won't get Turcotte.

I'd also argue that Strome is worth a low 1st, same as Greenway, drop the 2nd and we might consider it.

Otherwise, it's an overpay. 🤷‍♂️

Greenway isn't worth a 1st, by himself .

But given his size, skill and longer term...I could see that evening out the deal as more of a 1 for 1 for Strome.

Yes, he is.

His value was seen as an early 2nd before the season started, and that was when it was at a low point. He then went on to have a breakout year and while inconsistent towards the end, he also tied the team lead for points against Vegas during the playoffs. He did more than enough to raise his value to a low 1st this past season. I'm specifically talking in the 20-32 range here. It's where I see Strome's is at as well.

1v1 to me is fair.

Strome for Greenway one for one? No way Rangers consider that. Greenway would be a 4th liner for Rangers. Strome would be your #1 centre. Got to add a 1st or prospect like Boldy, Rossi or Marat.

Don't be an idiot, Strome isn't worth a Top 50 prospect. Let alone either Rossi or Boldy, both of whom fall into that category.

Greenway is a middle six power forward, irregardless of where you play him. That doesn't change just because you have Panarin, Lafreniere, and Kreider. Or did you just miss the fact Greenway is fully capable of playing both wing positions? He can still play up and down the Rangers lineup playing in a RW role.

Furthermore, let's not try and pretend Strome is something he's not. Irregardless of where we would slot him, in the short term, Strome is still a middle sixer who would be moved further down the lineup once Rossi is ready to take over. Rossi alone has a floor of a high-end 2nd line center, which means he already has a far higher ceiling than Strome ever had.

And this notion that Strome automatically becomes our best center is blatantly false too. Joel Eriksson-Ek exists. Strome would be our 2nd best center, even if he was used on a line with either Kaprizov or Fiala, that doesn't mean he's better than Eriksson-Ek, because he's not.

Not a fan of strome in general. He can play but not a great skater. Considering age, uniqueness (greenway’s size) and contract in a flat cap I’d give the edge to greenway on value overall.

Lolllll "Maybe not Byfield" this guy says. Kravtsov doesn't get you even close to a Turcotte conversation. Thats like saying Kaliyev could get us "Maybe not Lafreniere, but definitely Kakko."
