True, but the Canucks run the risk of losing Kole Lind to SEA anyways and if it ensures VAN getting Brandt Clarke, it should definitely be considered.

I doubt Clarke makes it past the Jackets at 5

Could be, but I feel like they would take Eklund

I think that the issue is whether Clarke makes it past New Jersey at 4. Detroit has Hronek, Seider and, for now, Tanev, and has other more pressing needs (like Eklund); Columbus needs a center; San Jose needs a goalie but Wilson will probably take a forward; so Clarke goes from #4 to #8. If that's who Vancouver wants, they'll want to trade up, but LA will extract a heavier price from a divisional rival than a RW prospect, in my opinion.

True, honestly the biggest wildcard is LA themselves in my opinion, they would have Clarke available but they likely go for a winger. Nonetheless though, one way or another unless if someone goes off the board, there would be a drop in talent level after pick #8

Savard is gone and Jones could be gone for nothing in a year, they might trade down, but they're still taking Clarke

Van might get great value trading down. We trade with someone like Detroit for Washington's pick, they take Loui in exchange. We then draft Autu Raty

With Doughty, Roy and Walker on the right side and Durzi, Spence and Faber in the pipeline, I don't see them taking an RD when they are so weak at RW, and their announced interest in acquiring a top-level LD leads me to believe that if Edvinsson is there at #8, they would select him or Lysell (or Guenther, obviously, but he won't be there) rather than Clarke.

Expansion draft if before the NHL draft so you would be doing this hoping hes still around. I mean it makes it more probable hes at 8 than 9 but i would just roll the dice because whoevers left at 9 will be good.
