Yeah, it’s got to be Lundqvist or Schneider for buffalo to even think about it.

Not defensive, not a leader, not a hitter, not a fighter, not a cheap contract, not what the Rangers need.

He is defensive and is a leader.

Don’t need Reinhart. Need an O’Reilly or Couturier or Cirelli.

Considering none of those are for sale (unless we wait a year for Couturier to possibly become a Free Agent), then other options need to be explored.

Making dumb moves for the sake of making moves is how we stay crap and don’t progress though. What I said had more to do with the type of player we need to acquire not necessarily that person. A guy like Eller could be a far better move to make than spending that much for Reinhart, plus it’d be a fraction of the cost.

Reinhart is better than Cirelli. He’s struggled in the bubble and it transferred over to this season.

I’m still taking Cirelli’s two way ability over Reinhart by a mile.

Reinhart has always been good defensively too. They are even players, Reinhart was a lot better this season.

If he’s so good then resign him. I don’t want him on the Rangers. Plus on a long term deal he’s gonna be dumb expensive for having done nothing in his career. I’m good.

It's really for one year of Reinhart really. Rangers can't really afford his cap.

I hope they do, but he’s most likely getting traded too.

I wouldn't have posted if I had thought it was completely brain dead. There is a need for that position. Reinhart has looked pretty consistent to me, given the lack of pieces around him in Buffalo. He won't cost as much in assets as Eichel or any of the options you listed. And while his Cap hit is a concern, it was going to be a concern down the line, anyway. Every team going into contention eventually finds themselves in a Cap mess they need to clean up.

If you don't like the deal and/or the player, that's perfectly fine. But I thought he was a solid piece that gets overshadowed in all the Eichel banter, and was worth taking a peek at.

He clearly doesn't know the player at all.

Don’t care. You’re team is crap and has been for a decade. Excuse me for avoiding them like the plague. What are the odds he turns into the next O’Reilly?

This team is already in cap hell next year, why the hell would we compound the problem and make it worse.

Every team is in Cap Hell after 3 years. Ever since this new trend of having to lock kids up to these massive deals after their ELC's expire, nobody has any money. The whole point of Drafting young talent is to benefit from some high talent/low cost years. Work your way up to your big pay day, as you maybe win a Championship along the way.

Now we got one more year of Fox on his ELC, and 2 with Lafreniere, and we're already trying to think where we are getting at least $15-16M to cover them. Ridiculous.

I didn’t say it’s good, but it’s the world we live in now so we need to be prepared and ready or we’ll be screwed.
