Tampa needs to clear cap. They get back 2 cheap promising players and a first. Rangers get a veteran leader who can play C. Maybe Stamkos waives his NMC to go to an up an coming team

I disagree. they need veterans who have been in playoff wars and leaders. Stamkos provides both

You really don't have the cap. 20 man roster aren't practical. Rangers don't want bonus carryovers into next season.
Captain Stamkos doesn't leave his only NHL team. Fact is Rangers are much better off keeping their young players and cap space.

Panarin cant be elite forever. Same with Mika and Krieder. If this was a full blown rebuild (as in we didn't sign bread) I would agree. But we cant let Panarin waste his golden years not making the playoffs.

Also this makes it very hard to retain fox and Zibanejad when they need knew deals.

Yeah, don’t want to give up those prospects.

But to entertain the Stamkos idea. Zibanejad plays the shut down role, not that he hasn’t...

I’m wondering about something like Chytil, 1st... maybe add a lower tier prospect, or Blackwell
