Way too much for Blueger. That’s the most expensive 4th line hockey!! By far!! Seeing as it would probably be ZAR/Blueger/Tanev still.

Over 2M for Blueger as a RFA is too much. And ZAR shouldn’t go over 1.5M IMO.

And I would rather sign Blake Coleman and a backup vet goalie like J.Halak, than 5M for Saad.

Blueger contract is in line with Laughton etc. extensions, will be in the 2.25-3.25 range

DeSmith is fine for the money, don't see the backup being the issue with the roster as constructed

Hyman/Coleman/Saad could all work, just went with personal preference

Every article says Pens biggest offseason priority is getting a veteran goalie. That’s all coming from inside the organization.

I don’t see Blueger getting above 2M. If so, not much above.

And not a 4 year, 3M per, 12M contract. U know how RFA works right?? We have his rights. No need for the long term contract extension. It won’t be more than 2 years. And he would have to go to arbitration if he thinks the offer is low.

i think they need another capable starter to help jarry. instead of saad they could sign coleman and/or armia who are both scoring wingers. armia offers size as well. friedman, poj and matheson make for a weak bottom 3 so i'd take one of them out for a big defensive dman (merrill, bogosian, nemeth)

Winnipeg needs top 4 defensemen, so would have no interest in Pettersson.

Lol. What’s that supposed to mean?? U do know peoples accounts get strikes right??

Even if so, I atleast know very few RFA get 4 year contracts. No need too. Blueger will still be a RFA after this upcoming season too. If they sign him to one year.

Teddy Blueger is arbitration eligible though so yes we own his rights but if he doesn’t sign and goes to arbitration, we run the risk of an arbitrator awarding him more than the pens are willing to sign which then they’d have to sign to keep him and cap f**k themselves or let him walk as a UFA

Right. But he will still be RFA after next season also. So why sign him to a 4 year contract. It makes no sense.

U have to be 27 years old at the beginning of the season or have played 7 seasons to lose your RFA rights and become an UFA.

If we sign Blueger to a one year 2.5M deal or 1 year 2M deal, he will be a RFA after next season still. And u can try to sign him long term( if they choose too) after next season cause he would still be RFA but come the next offseason he would be UFA.

Edit*** oh no, I’m sorry. U are right..he will be 27 years old at the beginning of next season. This is his last RFA year. He’ll be 27 in August.

Yeah he will be a UFA next season if we just sign him 1 year. And like I said, he is arbitration eligible this year too so he is basically a UFA this year too. If Seattle selects him or the pens trade him, this would be the time for it to happen. Gaudreau would be a cheaper option that’s just as good. Love Blueger but with it being a flat cap world for the next like 4 years, I think the pens should worry about utilizing their younger and cheaper players. Guys like Poulin, Legare, Angello, Lafferty, O’Connor, POJ, etc.
I’d do everything I could to make as much cap room for next offseason. When guys like Sasha Barkov are available. And I think a lot of guys will take 1 year deals to shoot for next year when teams will be able to drop more bad/big contracts.

I agree. Sign Gaudreau to a 1M per contact for 2-3 seasons and he can Center that 4th line.

And I agree with letting even Angello, Zohorna, OConnor play more. Angello is a fighter too.

We got the big bodies in our system. We should use them more.

Not a fan as much of Lafferty. But when he’s on the ice, In my head, I’m always like who is that.?? And have to check his number with his name. Cause he always looks bigger on the ice as well. And they list him as 6’1, 195. But he always looks bigger. I would be willing to bet he’s bigger than what he’s listed at.
