after exit interviews

Team: 2021-22 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 14, 2021
Published: Jun. 14, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Krejci and Hall sign for cheap after both saying they want to stay and win in Boston

Rask signs a short, cheap deal, knowing he'll be out until at least February, and the Bruins can discuss a new (likely larger) contract next summer. Anderson is signed as insurance in case Vladar/Swayman falter, but likely stays in Providence.

Bergeron, Marchand, Pastrnak, DeBrusk, Coyle, Smith, Frederic / McAvoy, Grzelcyk, Carlo / Vladar are protected from Seattle, leaving Ritchie exposed. The Bruins then trade DeBrusk+ for Graves to shore up their LD and give Seattle a young scorer, something they won't really be able to get from the expansion draft.

The NYR trade is made to ensure the Bruins can get Aatu Raty--he should fall to 16th, and I think the Bruins' development team could help him realize the potential seen in him before 2019-2020, while Studnicka and Zboril both require waivers but aren't good enough to be NHL regulars just yet, and fill holes in NYR's prospect pool. The value might be a little off but I can live without Berard coming back.

Lauzon is traded to EDM after Caleb Jones is taken in the expansion draft, the Oilers have plenty of 4th liners to spare leaving Archibald available for trade.

The other UFAs vastly upgrade Boston's depth. Coleman and Goodrow were the exact players who took Tampa to the next level, Hyman played at an elite level this year and fits Krejci perfectly, and Hakanpaa is a perfect fit with the offensive Reilly.

With all these additions I have a hard time seeing this team losing to anyone but the Avalanche or Golden Knights in the playoffs next year, the only real weakness is goaltending but hopefully Rask recovers well in time for the playoffs and Swayman can keep the team afloat until then.

Hall ain't gonna sign for that cheap. This is the guy that chose the big $$$ instead of signing a long term with a contender last summer.

Rangers say no, even without Berard involved. Studnicka isn't what the Rangers need, they need to draft a center prospect. And Zboril wouldn't crack the Rangers either, he doesn't have the upside of Zac Jones and Tarmo Reunanen is also on the cusp. So the return isn't worth it, especially considering you want to draft a center, which the Rangers could use.

Not even going to touch those UFAs they are so bad. It's not even worth mentioning.

Coyle should be left exposed. He's not a 5+ mil player, especially on the 3rd line. They should pray Seattle takes him.

go listen to the bruins exit zoom call he literally said "ive made my money throughtout my career im just trying to find a stable home in boston" too me that sounds like he's willing to take a more team friendly contract maybe not 4 mill but possibly somewhere inbetween 5-6.25 mill aav.

i don"t see rangers needing a center lol, strome, mika, chytil and they are even going after eichel what makes you think they would draft a center? studnicka plays center and right wing aswell and kappo hasn't really shown much wow factor yet. and how zboril is worse then tarmo blows my mind zboril played a full season tarmo played 4 games, bruins defence was top 5 in the league and rangers was barely top 15 so i think that means zboril would be better considering he slotted in on a team that had a much better defence overall.

Thats real dumb. Barzal must be good at faceoffs bc the islanders are good at faceoffs according to you. Also regardless of whos better zboril or reunanen, theres no hole in the rangers prospect pool.

What Hall says and what Hall actually does are two different things. This is the same guy that said he wanted to play for a contender and then he signed with Buffalo lmao.

I think you’re missing some context here. He was trying to sign with the bruins and the bruins just didn’t have the cap space. So he signed with a team that stinks with a full NMC. Guess where he wound up?

I agree that players say and mean two different things, but I think if you watched the exit interview, you’d see where the guy that made this is coming from.

This is also the same guy that said he would only be traded to Boston or Colorado, so I think bruins are assured that hall will most likely be staying with us for a good price

I think he'll re-sign with Boston too, but it's gonna be in the 6M range not the 4M range.

He was in talks with a few teams. He was also almost traded to the Islanders before they went with Palms instead too. Boston wasn't his only choice.

I still think he'll be back in Boston, but he's not taking a massive pay cut like some here think.

And then what happened? What happened to block that islanders trade? Oh ya it was hall blocking it. 6 million is reasonable.

Wait what? Yes they were. Friedman said Islanders were in talks with Sabres (Hall was willing to waive) but Sabres weren't willing to pull the trigger just yet, so they went with Palms. The only known trade Hall turned down was to Vegas.

Hall didn't block the trade. The only trade he blocked was to Vegas (lol). Adams was taking too long and Lou just went in another direction.

this is how fans think,
Guys paying what 7-8% more in taxes on 5+ mil for 4 years. It's over 1.5 million in savings. Now I'm sure the numbers work out different. But that's a lot of scratch.

Friedman

"I heard the Islanders offer was similar to the one they did with Palmieri. Now obviously, there was a bit more in the Palmieri deal because Zajac was involved. The Islanders were deciding between Palmieri and Hall and they made their decision.”

Islanders were in talks and they decided to go with Palms instead of Hall.

Then from Hall himself

“Leading up to the deadline, there were a couple teams that were interested, I’m not going to say who they were, but if it would have worked out, I would have gone there,” he said. “I wasn’t just holding out for Boston. I was eager to join a playoff team.

One of those teams were the Islanders per Friedman.
