I am for 2 reasons. 1, we need a big RD and 2, we need stability on defence and he has proven that. Morrissey is a similar player as Slavin and Hamilton has played extremely well with him so I can see the same game coming from Dougie

I was just thinking about potential trade targets for WPG on defence and Sanheim came to mind...what a sweet add that would be. Local MB product too.

I get that, just the price it would take is too rich for me.

Wonder if the flyers make that move. Maybe to create space for a swing at dougie? Idk. With their current d-core they won’t. But these assets would help them replenish their prospect pool if they make a move for one or even move these same assets for one.

This looks pretty good. But why send a 3rd to Carolina if you're only signing Hamilton for 7 years? Or did you intend that to be 8? And why Zajac?

If the Jets can sign him early, I don't care to give up a 3rd....Zajac is a local boy, a vet and a center if needed... Maurice wants his vets for the 4th line

Oh okay, you just want to get your foot in the door early for Hamilton. For Zajac, the jets shouldn't care where a player is from they should only care if they are good at hockey or not

He is doing fine for the Isles on their 3rd/4th line

That's this year in a really small sample size. It's small potatoes anyways though. Nothing to worry about.

Hamilton has been granted permission to discuss contract parameters with other teams by Carolina. So not sure that a 3rd is required. Plus, if we trade for him we can’t sign him before the expansion draft or else we expose somebody else.

I agree that he would be a great addition, I just don’t like the cost $8M+. That’s the going rate for a #1 D, top 20 D in NHL.

The Philly trade is interesting. I really like it, didn’t consider it before, but is really intriguing. I’m a fan of buying very low on Patrick. I think he could end up as a decent 3rd line C/W with some offensive upside. Sanheim Would be a very nice #4 D.

Martinhook, Zajac and Nosek are all good bottom 6 options I hope the Jets consider and do their due diligence on.

Nice offseason! Thanks for putting it together.

The main point of a sign and trade is to spread the AAV over more years. That would put him at $7,656,250 AAV for 8 years, which I think is much more manageable on a year to year basis
