2021-2022 MN Wild Go For Eichel

Created by: KoeberBrick
Team: 2021-22 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 14, 2021
Published: Jun. 14, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
----- Before We Start ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- This is just my opinion
- Let me know what you think!
- I think that we are going to see MN start to pull from the AHL to fill roster spots this season

----- Trades ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buffalo: (Before Expansion Draft)
- Buffalo gets a first round pick, a dynamic top-6 forward, and a very good top-4 d-man. I don't know if Buffalo gets more than this based on the medical situation around Eichel.

Edmonton: (Player Dump)
- Edmonton gets a player who can center the 3rd or 4th line for cheap

Seattle: (Expansion Pick)
- Seattle gets a good young D-Man. I think he could be to Seattle what Nate Schmidt was to Vegas

----- Expansion --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notes:
- I believe Guerin will be able to get Zach Parise to waive his NMC for the expansion, especially after the season he has had this year
- I am expecting Seattle to pick Carson Soucy because of his contract and his recent play

7 Forwards:
- Mats Zuccarello (NMC), Jack Eichel, Jordan Greenway, Joel Eriksson Ek, Marcus Foligno, Ryan Hartman, Nico Sturm

3 Defenceman:
- Jared Spurgeon (NMC), Ryan Suter (NMC), Jonas Brodin (NMC)

1 Goalie:
- Kaapo Kahkonen

Waived NMC:
- Zack Parise

Top 4 Exposed Players: (Players can be picked while being a UFA)
- Cam Talbot, Carson Soucy, Zack Parise, Marcus Johansson, Ian Cole

----- Free Agency --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Key Returning UFA's
- Ian Cole: Guerin has already been in talks with Cole about returning and he has stated that he loves it in MN

Key Returning RFA's
- Kirill Kaprisov and Joel Eriksson Ek

Key Players Not Resigned:
- Nick Bjugstad, Nick Bonino, and Marcus Johansson

IMO Eriksson Ek or Rossi would have to be a starter in a Eichel trade

Maybe but I still wonder why the Sabres passed on Rossi at the draft. To reunite Quinn and Rossi would seem like the logical idea.

It would have to be Rossi, since Ek won’t be included in a package for Eichel. Which, if you swap Rossi for Fiala, then MIN has to start doing other moves to dump cap or expand this package out much more. If MIN had even a remotely ok solution for Parise, I think we’d be front runners for Eichel. But with his money on the books, it’s very tough to acquire Eichel and still be competitive from a depth standpoint

I think the value really isnt far off for Jack trade but its just not they type of players buffalo is going to be looking for. By that i mean i think they just want prospects and picks guys under 20.
Buffalo isnt going to get better if they trade jack this year so anything they do should be for long term gain.

We don't actually know what Buffalo wants, though. I know Sabres fans (including yourself based on your comment) are looking for picks/prospects, but nothing has come out publicly for whether or not the Sabres want futures. The only thing that has is that the Sabres are looking for "the value of four first round picks" which doesn't necessarily mean they want four first rounders (and that quote was from a while ago, I think his value has dropped since that surfaced). I could see the Pegulas forcing Adams to stay relatively competitive so they can sell tickets and jerseys by having him get a package like this.

Personally I think this is a touch light for value, I'd be willing to throw in a 2nd rounder as a sweetener.

Sabres' fan here. I love the Wild as a trade partner for Eichel.

I would add Rask (no retention) to the trade with Buffalo, the Sabres send Montreal's 3rd to the Wild and the Sabres get both 1st round picks (Pit and Min).

To the Wild: Eichel and Montreal's 3rd 2021

To the Sabres: Dumba, Fiala, Rask, Minnesota's 1st 2021 and Pittsburgh's 1st 2021.

I expect that regardless of where Jack Eichel gets traded if he gets traded the team will have to send salary back in order to make it work. Looking at buffalo’s immediate roster what would they want:
1. A blue chip center prospect (Rossi)
2 a top 6 caliber RW (Fiala)
3 NHL caliber goaltender who can play now, or
4 a young RD who can play now and has team control going forward
5 1st round pick

Some of these needs would change depending on the Reinhart situation. If he stays as the number one center for the upcoming season these needs would not change much. If he is also being traded the needs change depending on what it is the Sabres get in return.

Like i said the value isnt far off, so we agree there. But i think you would have to be crazy to think buffalo will be competitive next year. It is 100% going to be about the moral victories and showing good effort in building for future. if jack is traded its a fast track rebuild as a best case scenario.

I don't disagree with you, I think rebuilding and getting a futures package is what they should do, but that doesn't mean that's what they will do. Rebuilding usually means loss of revenue for owners and if Buffalo trades a star center like Eichel they will be losing out on ticket and jersey sales. My point is that I could see that being a tough pill to swallow for the Pegulas and that there's a chance they force Adams to get a package of NHL'ers so they don't lose out on too much revenue. We just haven't heard anything publicly about what the Sabres want in a package for Eichel.

well i guess the question is are buffalo sabers owners insane. insanity; doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
