Interesting - Not like you aren't giving up a lot with the picks + NoPat, but I don't see a 2nd coming back with Johnny even if his contract expires next year. If I were you, I would trade off what you can and try to sign Johnny in Free Agency so you can still get some pieces back for your guys and just wait another year for him to come to Philly.

I am not a Philly fan but the Carter contract is good. I would honestly try to lock him up as long as he is willing to go, since I feel like his regression was simply due to the D in front of him and just a mental lapse. He is really good, and I think it's pretty obvious to most people even with his sophomore slump. Good on you for paying him, regardless! Will be fun to watch him again

I disagree with the reasonings behind Flames trade, Gaudreau has stated, both publicly and to the Flames management, that he intends to sign an extension. Plus, he's had a pretty good season compared to last year, so you can't really say it's not working.

Also, if the Flames we're trading Gaudreau, they'd ask for Konecny and a pick in return.

Calgary isnt selling low on Gaudreau, if he doednt resign this summer we can move him at the deadline without taking on multiple years of cap

I think that core hasn't worked and Tkachuk, Dube and Magiapene are the future. Konecky might be a good trade.

What a terrible offer for Gaudreau. No one wants JVR lol

Also yes it is actually working Gaudreau has been the teams best forward for years. Getting JVR would be a massive downgrade
