I can see Detroit offering WSH's first in the next draft if the Blues also throw in a 4th

You do realize that Montreal's pick as of right now will be 28th or worse right? The only teams with a worse pick right now are Vegas, NYI and TB and none of them are even interested in Dunn. So literally EVERY other team in the league can offer a higher 1st round pick, even the Leafs.

    I don’t think he’s worth much more than a bottom-5 pick.

    PIT passes on that.

If I was the Pens GM, I would accept that. Pens get a 3rd pairing RHD in Bortuzzo that is cheap, a big body and physical.

And get a big power forward in Z.Sanford, 6’4, 210 pounds, that can score, plays physical, and that they can sign to a 1.5M-2M deal. He can play on the 3rd line LW and have Z.Sanford/J.Carter/J.Zucker.

But the Pens organization isn’t giving up that 2nd round pick. Burke and Hextall already said they arnt trading away any high drafts pick anymore. They want to build up the organization with and draft “their type of players”.

I wouldn’t be mad at this deal for the Pens though.

In terms of fit, I agree. I think both fill a need in our organization.
Bortuzzo is a good 3RD option if we get priced out of Ceci and Sanford is a big body that can help. I am just worried about his next contract.
Its also not a deal that makes sense for us to make before the expansion draft, because we cannot protect Sanford, so we risk losing him after giving up a 2nd. After the expansion draft, I would consider a deal, but for a different price. I think DeSmith makes sense for them. Maybe a later pick or something like that.
I like the pieces, I just dont think the time or the return is right.

Pens are my second favorite team, It certainly fits needs and is much cheaper than what is being put out by other ACGM's. I know they don't want to get rid of high draft picks but this fills a need that can come in and play right away as opposed to three years down the road. Also I think Sanford can be the final forward protected.
