Would rather keep Geekie over marty. Might be able to convince marty to take a 1x1 and sign both tho. He seems to want to see this through at this point.

Is this a sign and trade with Jones? I’m not a huge fan of his long term but assume it would be if we’re giving that much up.

All the FAs have M names except for the N name

      Should've signed Ryan Mugent-Hopkins smh

In all seriousness nice to see a more tactful RNH deal

Yes, an extension would be in place with Jones. I could see something like a 7 or 8 x 5 or 6

I never noticed that lol. I thought RNH would be a good grab in FA with our left over cap space since I definitely think we're looking to make our 3rd line better. He would be a good fit with us too.

      Jones is an instant no.

Carolina's movements have often been predictable when you look specifically at Eric Tulsky and his analytical minds within the organization. Meaning this is a very analytics-reliant team. Jones' analytics are comically bad.

I see exactly what you're saying. I know Jones probably won't happen with the standpoint that this team views most players from, but I still see "potential". If we let Hamilton walk, it's gonna be one of Jones or Barrie (or Savard) because you're taking a step back in losing Hamilton. If we let Hamilton walk, who do you suggest can pick up where he left off?

Columbus is comically bad. If Jones can be had for lesser valued pieces then it makes sense. Jones numbers will come back to the good side (not elite) being on a team that drives possession and has a positive corsi.

I would rather get a better LHD and have Keane at RHD than Montour and Lajoie.

Coleman or Hyman would be better LW options (and cheaper) than RNH

Overpayment on Martinook by about a million

Of the options available at RD with decent underlying numbers, you're looking at... Hjalmersson who always flies under the radar (offensive black hole but a defensive STUD, easilly the best analytical DFD in the NHL). Nick Jensen might be a trade option if Seattle takes him from Washington, or Dillion if they choose to take him instead. Maybe Travis Hamonic from Vancouver in free agency, although I don't know his underlying numbers off the top of my head.

There's options that will be cheaper, and that allows for the team to add up front, maybe targetting a free agent like Taylor Hall because the scoring dried up in the post-season.

I wouldn't hate either of those options. I may make another "potential" offseason later using your suggestions.

Anytime, as long as there are capfriendly trades that are horrible for Carolina, I will be there to critique them!

If you want an extension in place, you pay with more quality, not quantity. Think Jarvis, not Suzuki.
