Even though we'd most likely love to trade Killorn for a 2nd I doubt we do it to Carolina unless it's by far the best offer

That Rielly trade makes no sense. If Dougie is going with an extension, then it would likely have to have Nylander coming back too since Rielly is a rental and doesn't hold the same value as he would if he had, say 4 years left.

Yeah, I don’t think that’s how’s it’s going to work man. Dougie is one foot out the door but wants that 8 year contract.

You aren’t getting Nylander for that. At least he doesn’t walk out the door for free.

Rumor is that Dougie's been allowed to do this so the Canes can match it in Raleigh. I don't know how genuine that is, but I find it hard to say he's one foot out the door yet.

Nylander would have to be the starting point for an extended Dougie.

He’s as good as gone if he get an offer more than $6M AAV x 8, which is more than likely. My understanding is that the Canes have offer 6m x 8 and he is checking the market.

There is no chance the Canes would get that level of asset in a sign and trade occurring in the off-season. Maybe if it was done at TDL.

You’re not getting Nylander or any substantial pieces for a guy you’re going to let walk. If they come back with an offer and canes want to match it they match it otherwise they’ll get a later round draft pick. If you know of a precedent where a similar situation brought back a guy like Nylander I’d love to hear it.

I think that is maybe the best return you cold hope for with dougie. I think the trades all make sense when put together as a whole. Good team overall, only thing I’d like to see is maybe moving foegele for another scoring winger with killorn on 3rd line

That's not going to make it for a Jones trade. Consider adding a prospect with actual significant value.

You're looking to trade for a #1RD. A core player. Blue-chippers are a necessity - read: someone who stands a decent chance of being a future core player. That means aiming a little bit higher than "he looks like he could turn out to be a pretty okay second-line winger".
