For many teams he wouldn’t be. For the bruins, he is. They have zero need for him.

Sorry, I wouldn’t do Bear for Debrusk (one for one). Never mind adding a draft pick. If Bear was as good as some people believe him to be or that value him that highly, then why would Edmonton even trade him. It’s not like Edmonton has a ton of depth on the blue line. But some way he is the answer for Boston

Bear would be battling for a roster spot most of the season and Debrusk would probably go on to score 20-30 goals

As a huge McDavid fan I would love to see Laine next to him. But Columbus and Boston both decline.

in this scenario they do have depth on the right side. Bouchard will be a regular next year so if you have larsson and Jones ahead of him already then he is expendable to add to offense. if you are not signing 2 other RHD then oilers would keep him for sure.

There are a lot of issues wrong with this, the biggest one is good luck resigning a starter and backup goalie, nurse, Puljujärvi, jones and Debrusk next season.

No Bear isn't, but you would definitely have to throw in a 1st round pick to make that even.

So you know Bouchard is a better player than Bear (at least more potential) but still believe Boston need him?

I don’t see any reason behind this trade for Boston. If I’m Edmonton it’s a no brainer even if they don’t have a ton of depth. Adding a player like Debrusk for not that much makes sense for them. I think Boston already has a player in Clifton that’s comparable to Bear.

wow I think you might be over valuing debrusk by alot and undervaluing Bear by a lot...

1st round pick shouldn't even be in this conversation

I dont think Bos needs him. In this scenario it should be a team with more need on the right side. I was just saying in this scenario he could be expendable for the oilers. as I would put Bouchard slightly behind him for now. but has a way higher ceiling and would pass him on the depth chart this year.

Also Edmonton depth on D is not that bad anymore they have developed some really good players. That was far from their issue this year. Their issue was lack of forward depth.

however I do think you are over valuing debrusk. and under valuating Bear. a bit. ( and i am a debrusk fan as i coached him in midget.)

Boston also had RHD depth with McAvoy, Carlo & Clifton. They also have Lyle waiting, who was Top 10 among rookie d-men in points for the AHL this past season. At the end of the day this deal doesn't make Boston a better team.

I agree I dont think BOS would be their partner here I didnt make the post. My point was that if the oilers sign 2 RHD Leaves BEar as expendable to try to add up front.

Clifton is gone on July 21st and Lyle has one pro season under his belt. Anyways, Bear would cost too much unless Holland do another Athanasiou for 2 2nds trade.

Why we trading a RHD who can play top pair for a 3rd line winger that’s probably just another Kassian?

It's at a point now that it isn't worth the argument anymore. Ignore it and move on because they just don't know Yzerman very well. The only cap dump he has taken in more than 10yrs as a GM was Staal and at the time he took a 2nd for him Detroit did need a LHD. Cap dump or not Staal played in all 56 games and averaged over 18 minutes in ice time. The only skater with more total minutes was Hronek. So I just wouldn't expect Detroit to take on too many cap dumps. Now personally I'd take on a couple cap dumps but since we are looking at a flat cap until the NHL's HRR exceeds $4.8B for consecutive seasons. So we have at least 2 more seasons of flat cap which will raise the price of a cap dump.

Hey Stevie it's Ken, while your cleaning up the mess I made in Motown here's a couple more messes I'd like you to take care of for me k.

Hey Jarmo it's Ken, Stevie said he can't clean up the Kassian mess I made so here's Kassian and a handful of guys I haven't even heard of all I need in return is an elite scoring winger a starting goalie and the best defenceman in the league 50% retained mmmk
