I think Hamilton would be worth keeping vs this

Maybe, but I forgot to mention that these are all potential scenarios if Hamilton leaves. Do you have any suggestions for this?

Mrazek probably doesn’t resign win the Canes as he has lost the starter role and also would be able to have the starter role somewhere else. Somewhere like San Jose or Toronto maybe. Canes will most likely go for an older and cheaper veteran backup to help mentor Ned. Someone like Halak, Raanta, Reimer would fit that bill. They could also target Brossoit from the Jets. The canes have a lot of playmakers on the team but what they really need is better goal scoring. They are already really good offensively, don’t get me wrong, but the reason that they have been knocked out early in the last couple years is because the offense was not there and they couldn’t break the opposing goalie. Third pairing that would be awesome would be Oleksiak-Hakanpaa. Both are big and physical and would be an elite shutdown pairing. Coleman will have lots of suitors looking for his services, but Carolina probably has a better chance than most with their cap flexibility. Trade Foegele RFA rights for 2nd rounder. Maybe trade signing rights to Paquette for a 5th rounder. Otherwise it is really good. Good job

Oh Well then this makes more sense, I think what you've done is a reasonable scenario for hamilton leaving

I like where this is going but still feel like we’re missing a piece in the top 6 which would put Nino on third line to improve overall scoring. I’d think about not resigning Marty and using that money plus your remaining cap space to get a Hoffman/Saad type player on a shortish term deal for around 5-6M.

I’m also a bit concerned about the bottom half of the D. Wouldn’t mind adding a solid option like Oleksiak. To do that may have to get a cheaper backup goalie (brossoit or reimer come to mind) to get the money for that. If you go that route you’d be placing more trust in Ned - which I think he’s earned and he’s on his way to being a legit 1, but he hasn’t faced a full seasons workload as a 1 before so something to think about.

Shoutout to evelutions as I read back through this he brings up some similar points. Great minds wink

Nobody knows if Jarvis is going to be ready, but I personally don't think he gets a full season next year. I see him taking a similar development path as Necas. I think he gets 8 games then sent to the AHL or back to juniors. Having him on ELC longer will be valuable when Aho and Teuvo deals are due

Fast an older bottom 6 guy. Brady an older overpaid defenseman and mid picks plus Suzuki is nowhere near enough for Jones. Especially if an extension is in place. We’d need a first and a really good prospect on top of this at a minimum.
