This team isnt that bad

Description
This isn’t supposed to be a perfect AGM. Just a rough outline. Trades may not be perfectly fair. I’m not a CBJ fan so I don’t know the ins and outs of the team and rumors.

This team is still good if Laine gets a C that meshes well with him. I chose Kuznetsov but maybe it’s Danault or someone else. But along with trading Jones, CBJ is getting a C. The winger depth on this team is still very good. And they have 4-5 guys that they could rotate at middle 6 C to figure out who works best, Domi, Roslovic, Texier and Foudy.

They would have to figure out the Dcore a bit but Werenski was elite this season so they have a building block. Gavrikov is a solid top 4 guy.

Sure it seems like quite a bit but the expectation is for Jarmo to be very active.

I don't think the Jackets need a full on rebuild. They need a re-tool. Draft a Kent Johnson or Edvinson, and build around Laine. Get a centre that can pass him the puck, a new d-partner for Werenski and you should be a playoff team

Exactly and even use the the TOR and TB picks if need be to get said C. They’re getting a quality player at 5 and the roster is pretty young.

The only issue with a jones and Kuzy swap is that they’re just in two completely different positions contract-wise. I know you recognized the value isn’t equal between the two players, but I feel like Columbus’s best bet is to make sure those are two separate trades so that they aren’t overpaying for Kuznetsov and are getting some good value back for Jones. Just my two cents.

Maybe you do 2 1st for Kuzy? A Laine-Kuzy-Bjrokstrand Combo would be mean

I don’t even know if Jones fits WSH with Carlson and Schultz at RD. Was mostly just showing that CBJ could use the Jones assets to help get Kuz.

I’d easily do the Tampa and Toronto picks for Kuznetsov if that’s what you’re suggesting. I think that’s more than Columbus might want to pay, but I find it hard to imagine any caps fans would be opposed to that and using the cap space to pick up Danault or someone else in free agency.

I’d also be okay with taking cap back if we had to in the trade cause 7.8M is a LOT.

I personally hope/think we’ll move on from Schultz, even though he’s serviceable in the top 4 and PP2. Then Jensen could take 2RHD and TVR could play bottom pair. Carlson is meh, especially given his cap hit. I don’t think we NEED jones, but he might work out in Washington if it were to happen.

Not only that, he has a no trade clause....there’s a chance he nixes a trade to Columbus.
